Ronald Koeman discussion

it did cross my mind yesterday at nil nil when we were running around like frightened rabbits that there was no way Liverpool would have set up in such an abject way, even with some of their rotten sides. I think one of the problems we have now is that Koeman thinks he's stuck with absolute dross and is thinking, 'right, what does a clever manager in charge of a crap side do for this one.' Moyes+, if you will. Prepare yourself in the weeks ahead for some familiar sounding sound bites

I'm going to be dead controversial here. Something about Koeman has concerned me for a while now. It's only a feeling I've got and I may very well be wrong, but I sense something isn't quite right.
He was comfortable at Southampton, no great pressure to succeed, and it showed in his demeanour. Now he's here, I think he feels he's bitten off more than he can chew. Maybe the idea he was sold is quite different to the reality, I don't know, but something tells me he's got concerns or worries.
We're 10 games in, he needs more time I know, but my spider senses are telling me he's not too sure he can do it Everton.
There's a massive transfer window ahead, and for the time being he can only work with what he's got, but even the greatest man manager in the world would struggle to turn around the attitude of most of the current team.
Anyways, just my thoughts, and I hope he proves me wrong.

As a saints fan who took loads of lip here about Koeman in the summer

you wait till winter sets in and he disappears off during the week to Holland/Holidays leaving the 'staff' to take training etc
wait till you have a couple of bad results and players are 'left out' etc

it was like clockwork with us.

oh, any of you still think Virgil Van Dyke is not good enough for you lot?
lol

Get out of our club you fat dutch toaster.

You've had 11 games and we're worse than we ever were. No ideas, no will, no fight, no nothing. £28m for bolasie?? You effing fungal infected scrotum.

First test, and you crap out majorly.

Go on - Get to soddery.

it all stems from the shambolic summer transfer window. he probly had a list of 5 or 6 and he got one. he said on numerous occaisions about having 3 keepers. stek was bought as a number 2 make no mistake. so he got let down on his number one keeper target for sure.

he couldnt come out and slagg mosh and kenwright off tho could he, he's probly waiting to see if they can deliver in january. if they dont i seriously think he will walk out.

Come back in 12 months you balloon

His Soton side finished 6th in a Season where leics won the league, Utd were cack, Chelsea finished mid table, Liverpool 8th. Last season was a total anomaly.

So the 7th place they got the season before meant nothing?

We sit in 6th after 11 games!!!!!!!!!most of which you would probably expect us to win. A few hard fixtures coming now. To say this after only 11 games is nothing short of ridiculous.

Every team plays every other twice. So that logic is irrelevant until the season finishes. Only 11 games? That's nearly a third of the season.

Chelsea were very good, it was the manner of our 'performance' that is the hardest to deal with. Just because Utd have been poor doesn't detract from that

Never said the performance was anything less than embarrassing nor that anything detracts from that The football has been poor for most of the season so far. Perspective is everything. We are currently above United who have a far superior squad and one of the world's best managers.

He's doing better job than the other candidates!!!! That like comparing apples with oranges. Who are these candidates? Apart from De Boer. Please tell.

I'd be more than happy to oblige. Emery iso struggling with PSG. Mourihno is struggling with United. Pellegrini in China. Tuchel with Dortmund in the league. All managers we were linked with, and who are currently under performing.

Our home form has vastly improved? Compared to what? We've played Spurs, stoke, boro, palace and West Ham. 11 points 8 goals 3 against. With the exception of Spurs, we should be winning the others. how can you come to the assumption that our home form has vastly improved after only 5 games.

Must have missed all of our home games last year then. Especially the ones where we got beat by West Ham and Stoke, and didn't beat any of the teams listed at home.

System? What system? Whatever the system you're talking about, you think Williams, Bolasie and Guaye suit it 'better'!!!!!!

In fact, have you watched any game at all? Steve Walsh's job is literally to bring in suitable players. Those 3 have been among the best in the team this season.

I'm struggling to understand your expectations?....

Just for the sake of accuracy Favre is currently sitting at the top of the French league & Emery got off to a slow start but he's won 6 & drawn 1 of the last 7.

This is a case in point in how Koeman needs to be a bit more diplomatic.

He said "It wouldn't be difficult to improve our defence after last season" then he goes out two days later and suffers the heaviest defeat in the last decade.

Hopefully someone is teaching him some PR skills.
Atm just wish he would use 'us' and not 'everton'

A Southampton fan gloating towards evertonians is like Jedward gloating at Paul McCartney after they get a top 40 hit.

Enjoy you're moment in the sun. You'll return to your rightful place of lower league no markdom very soon.

Yes they are doing well at the moment, but Koeman has a higher career win percentage than Favre. Let's see how Favre does, certainly was a weird move.

But my point is, is that anyone would have struggled to pick up the pieces of last year and all would have needed time. I was championing De Boer and got that very wrong. Sure we can be skeptical of Koeman, and if we don't achieve the targets he set out before the season then yes his role should be questioned.

But if he managed European placed with this squad, then he has done what he was asked to do. Then the following is where we can say, we should be challenging for top 4 and our performance and approach, especially towards top teams, should be better as of when the squad of players is markedly improved.

Yup. Can't disagree with any of that. He just hasn't looked a happy bunny for a while now and while we are turning in gutless performances like yesterday, I think he's going to struggle even more with transfer targets.
I can handle getting beat by a better side, I can't handle absolute surrender. There's a rotten core at this club and he's going to have a job on his hands getting rid of it.
