Ronald Koeman discussion

As a saints fan who took loads of lip here about Koeman in the summer

you wait till winter sets in and he disappears off during the week to Holland/Holidays leaving the 'staff' to take training etc
wait till you have a couple of bad results and players are 'left out' etc

it was like clockwork with us.

oh, any of you still think Virgil Van Dyke is not good enough for you lot?
lol

Hes already missed 1/3 of a transfer window playing golf...were his teams as boring to watch when he was your manager?

Did he have young players come in as a last resort and get motm awards then drop them.immediately?

Is the last 11 games the last two months?

We've been nowhere near good enough of late.

The big thing for me is the fallacy the defence was sorted out. That's been blown apart in the last few games. As far as I'm concerned Koeman has had minimum influence in this club from a coaching perspective. We're still atrocious in that back four, and he's actually taken the potency away from our attacking game.

Which ones Dave?

Imagine inheriting such an utterly embarrassing, weak-minded, gutless gang of complete s***houses
Completely agree but thought Koeman at the very least would get everyone putting a shift In. No effort or intensity at all yesterday manager has to take the blame for me it was on him.

So are you suggesting he shall undone all the shortcoming of the team with the inherited squad in 2/3months time? What can you expect...if this team can finish in the top 6/7 this season it is a decent return. Have we bought and spent huge? No, only the Stones money.

You can endure RM for 3 years and now questioning RK after 11 games. If Koeman is backed by the board, signed a new team and finish in the 11th/12th place this and next season, I will question but for now let him get on with his job.

I think it's the same people who wanted us to actually lose games so Martinez could get sacked. We're at this stage again ALREADY, which is incredible. Nobody argued that performances have been dire, but we're not flirting with the bottom of the table like we did the last two seasons. People love the satisfaction of being right, and so will revel in it when in instances such as yesterday, to the point where instead of looking at the bigger picture they'll just go "Told you so".

Genuinely feel some would like us to go through 5 or 6 mangers in 3 years. We're not entitled to anything, we have to earn the right to challenge. Imagine not thinking this squad needs at least 100 million net to challenge. It's filled with aged players past their prime, rejects from other teams and potential that has showed no signs of being filled in two seasons.

Koeman was let down by our transfers and is being let down by the players. It's not his squad, and the addition of a handful of players isn't going to change that. I can't see how our expectations were suddenly raised by bottling a potential 4th place finish and then being saved from potential relegation by the goals of our striker the next two seasons. Or how a billionaire owner suddenly means that anyone should be leading a mediocre squad to challenging more than a European place, with nothing of a net spend and 11 games into a season.

Some laughed at Klopp when the RS had shockers last year, like away to Watford 3 nil, in the defence that it was largely ''Brendans Squad". We laughed when some put Klopp under pressure. The expectation to challenge was in his second season, not his first. They finished 8th last season. Look the turn around.

So take a hard look and relax, be patient for this season. Otherwise we will never have the required patience and realism it takes before we can challenge, and we'll be stuck in mid table mediocrity.
I agree in the main
i will say though I think a good percentage of people will have reservations over the style of play, also how we appear to be going into games with a over defensive approach.
The problem now in the Prem is managers are not given the time to build, and that is why we don't see younger players being used, they just won't take the chance... In RK he appears to be looking at players of a certain age who bring experience and athleticism with them, I have no issue with this in the near future, as we need to get a good foothold, but mid to long term we need to see youth and younger players being introduced.
As for sacking him let's not go to mad...I did say after the RM sacking that we need to be careful we do not become a club that sacks managers at the first sign of a dip (not saying this about RM)
As for three summer windows to build a squad, I wouldn't disagree but to get that we will need to see steady improvement

He's had it out for Koeman (or any RM replacement from the start).

Whether he's just doing it as a wind-up, or if he genuinely believes the tripe he's pedalling, only he knows.

It's extremely boring though.

The people who wanted Martinez sacked are the ones making excuses about Koeman...

You just need to read a couple of posts from those pointing out 6th place blah blah blah

They havent seen the fixture list coming up...

Don't like that tweet at all class obviously was a major factor but the battle has to be won before class tells & we didn't lay a glove on them. I'd prefer an acknowledgment of the lack of effort & desire.

He is creating a mentality for these games similar to moyes.

I understand he most likely thinks it's our level when away against the better teams but it's small time & if you get off to a poor start usually a hiding is inevitable.

What form? 11 games and won 5. We can't even beat West Ham at home when leading last season. 2 seasons of dreadful PL records that was form.

Period, we have the easy fixture period last Christmas was it? Still where were the team in the table? 12th when RM was fired. Why would you lay the blame on Koeman now he is 2 and 1/2 months (start of season) into his job not 3 years. He will get things right like he did at Soton.

What "form"?

Our current "form", that's what "form".

You look at the "current form" indicators in newspapers and they are all based on the last six results.

I am willing to bet the points gleaned from our last six fixtures has us rooted right among the dead men, if not actually in the bottom three.

People need to stop blaming Martinez and giving Koeman a free ride.

He needs to work with what he has in the here and now, especially as there is absolutely nowt to indicare January is going to be much better than the summer window, and at the moment he is doing an awful job.

It takes time to undo the old habits and drillings. The current coup of players are mentally weak and are easy to lose concentration. We shall see I think this time next year the team will start to be a Koeman team after he signed 6/7 new players.
