Ronald Koeman discussion

So you are saying the squad RM isn't the best we have had in 20 years

I totally agree with you, and so do most people now

But last season RM wasn't getting the best out of the best squad since the 80's

Any idea what has changed
Im saying " the best we've had" doesnt mean anything. its not good enough to be in the CL or win a title. Alot of teams in the league have their best squad in 20 years

This all comes down to having a owner who's clueless about football, He wanted the flavour of the month who'd been talked up in the press about Arsenal/Barca being his next step

Just needed a look into his bang average past to see he's a very very risky appointment

Martinez for his faults has a system and style he wanted to implement. If he had £££ i think he could have achieved this.

These other managers also have systems and styles they use and are successful with...Koeman has nothing.

Martinez spent about £60m net and left us with this absolute pile of dung squad that has absolutely no character or bottle, he isn't statistically one of the worst ever Premier League managers by accident.

RM had£13.5M and spent it on Niasse. There are no what if in this world. What if Moyes got the money Martinez had had at Everton. The history and stats proved RM winning rate in the last 2 season was 29% and at that rate he was going to take us down if he stayed on. He failed why don't you just accept it?

Same squad that finished 5th with 72 points

Think you may of misunderstood my post

I was agreeing with you, I just wanted to exegarate the best squad comment to the people who used it in their quest to rid RM, but now blame results on the crap RM left

30m gets you Bolasie though

If you're buying PL players yes. This is the crux of what I didn't express very clearly. We are better off in the long run of using good scouting and having a plan to spread 60 mm across 4 to 5 players of more upside than 25m * 2 on a Bolasie like player. (Who I think is has improved us, but isn't going to make us into a top 4 challenger)

Youre comparing Moyes to Martinez spending ignoring that Martinez only rarely had funds to sign players over £5mil and had to cover a lot of positions with old players and gambles.

Which players did Moyes leave Martinez who were worth decent money? Where are these players now?

Martinez added alot of value to the balance sheet with his transfers to argue that is folly.

Then tell me why did he get 22 wins out of 75 in the last 2 seasons before he got sack? Same squad as you suggested.

Because he failed as a manager, I never suggest that he did a good job I'm saying the squad everyones ripping to shreds tore it up in his first season

Don't read more into what I was saying. I was using Mata as an example. We can keep trying for players if his ilk. But we shouldn't expect to land them. Players like Coutinho came to the league as not finished products. Pricey risk/reward targets. Ziyech would be an example of players we should be able to get across the line and shooting for. If we can supplement that with someone that is an established PL star fantastic. But we shouldn't be holding up our transfer business on the hope that is something we can get over the line.
Not a fan of buying from Eredivisie at the moment. Defensively so weak that its hard to tell the Suarez's from the Depays and Jansens
