  • yes, he'll get us top 6 and stability

I'm not sure Pellegrini would be a good fit for us, but he doesn't get the credit he deserves for that title win. They had to win the final 5 games of the season to even have a mathematical chance. Think they finished on 86 points, they were superb that season.

True he does not get a lot of credit for that but RS did throw the title away. Look how much money Pellegrini spent this season but only going to finish 4th. I think this season they have not beaten any of the top three teams at the etihad.

He did take Malaga to the quarter finals in Champions League, pretty impressing in my eyes.

City were foolish to announce Pep's appointment when they had a great chance of competing for the title. Ever since then City have collapsed plus key injuries to KDB and Kompany.

This really. Isn't it that they just buy players they deem necessary and then the manager has to fit them in?

My understanding, but if what micknick says is true, that he is responsible for Mangala and Otimendi then i'd give him a big swerve.

Mangala in particular is an absolute carthorse.

Pellegrini would have had input on both of them- he had the pair playing together before and still decided to sign them again for those huge fees.

I'd be interested to see Koemans signings over managerial career

He is, but he's been a "potential buy" for a while now.

Also, just as a side note, really interesting that Pellegrini's had both players before, seeing as they've not been in the same club or even connected to one another ever.

What signings has Pellegrini made that have made a real difference to that Man City side? De Bruyne definitely but any others?!
I wonder how much say he has in signings at the club. Didn't the owners buy Tevez when they first came in without speaking to the manager.

That's how it works in North American sporting circles.

Head coaches provide the club GMs' with their close season (and mid-season) wish-list of player targets, but it's the GMs' who make the trade deals using or not using the draft system and within the wage-cap limitations... and the head coaches are then expected them to work with what they're provided.
