.....the best players don't neccessarily make the best teams. A group of players have got the nation to the finals, that was a really difficult game away to Croatia the other night that they came through really well. I watched and they were impressive. Players coming down could negatively impact the current balance, especially if they come in with the wrong attitude.

Its important that any player who does drop from the main squad wants to be there.

YES, they are the best.....because the others stopped becoming available once they stepped up.

BUT the FA want a cheap trophy win, so are looking at screwing over the lads that GOT US TO THE TOURNAMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

....you're right, but I don't think it's simply a case of taking all the best players. I suspect one or two will drop down but who they are will depend on who is best placed to do so following consideration of various factors (their fitness, team role, attitude to play etc).
