Ross Barkley

As much as I'd think it'd be great experience for them, the thing that worries me is that for Ross it'd be: First full season, world cup, (injury) second full season, Euro21s, full season, Euro 2016. That's a hell of a lot of football with no break, especially if we continue to play in Europe.

full side has 2 games at the same time so if they win it/get to the final its only 3 more games max.

they really are, should they win it do you honestly think Barkley, Ox-Chamb, Sterling etc wont be better players for it come euro 2016??

they obviously will be

Beating a load of Championship standard players wont have any impact on their development.

Its basicly sending a bunch of bigger boys to bully less developed & talented kids.

Championship standard players?? you ever watched this tournament?

its such a cliche but its so true, winning is a habit.

I think winning as a group is important, but that means a group of lads doing it together, doing the hard work and then the rewards together.

That is not what is happening here.

The lads doing the graft and hard work have been tossed aside for bigger & better boys.

Can I just add, that if Ross goes to this tournament, it will be 2 solid years without a real break....then its the Euro's the year after.....3 solid years of football.

he'll be away for 1 more week with the U21s than he will with the seniors anyway. 4 weeks off instead of 5 is hardly going to kill him

I half agree with Martinez, but at this point i'd rather have Barks playing at a competitive level with the U21's (as I would rather see Sterling et all as well) and then coming together in time for the 2016 euro's.

For England, use the likes of Delph etc to bed them in during the qualifiers - because apart from Switzerland it's an awful group and we've pretty much qualified already.

Our U21 team next year would be a really strong, (experienced), group - and would have already played at a tournament ahead of going into the Euro's. Would also allow players to play in their correct position rather than having to play square pegs in round holes.

I only advocate this because our qualifying group is so week.

Play the likes of Clyne (23), Rodgriguez (25) (when he's fit) in the full team - and if they impress keep them in - and then bring in the U21's to compliment that - as a group of players rather than just one or two. It's what the German's have done - and yes they've been poor in recent weeks but they've lost a lot of experienced players either through retirement or injury.

Our U21 team next year could realistically be:

Butland
Chambers-Stones-Dier-Shaw
Hughes
Barkley-Oxlade Chamberlain
Sterling
Berahino-Kane
