In order to "progress" Young players need games, a loan will be the best option for the lad, rather than warming the bench and playing reserve football.

But then, a lot of people seem to think 5minutes here and there is the best option, its not and never will be.

Playing at a championship level in front of a decent crowd is much better than playing in the reserves.

Show me a team which plays an 18 year old player at CM.

What I meant to say is that Barkley has shown more at 18 than Cleverley had at that age. I think we have a totally different beast on our hands with Barkley IF he is handled correctly

Gerrard only started getting games when he was 19.

It's a disciplined position centre midfield. Let him make mistakes at Sheff Wed, he will learn from it.

Presumably Ross can be recalled if needed so I don't see the problem.

Although he'd only ever be 'needed' from Moyes' point of view if all our defenders were also injured and it was literally a choice between Ross or Mucha in midfield.

It'll be good for Barkley though, and that's what matters. Ressie football and 8 minutes every month is not what anyone needs.

Cleverly was always touch and go at United. That many loans meant he wasnt gonna cut it until he stepped up at Wigan and changed Fergie's mind.
