Quixall was a very good player, another who might have been great, but who somehow came to very little in the end. I think this is what you mean when comparing him with Barkley.

I have a merciless approach to a footballer, they come and go the CLUB is forever, and at all times what is best for Everton, there are those on this thread who think he is the greatest talent ever, well he is not and no matter what excuses are given or who else is to blame will make him any better, the fact is that most of the time he his a passenger, sure he has the odd good play, but for 95% no contrubuion.

...and the one thing that great players have,,,to a man...and its one of the things that makes them great...is CONFIDENCE in their own ability. Its why great players do things instinctively, and why even if a great player is having a poor game, he is always dangerous. He was taken off on Sunday because he was stinking the place out in what is supposed to be 'his' position. Even when Naismith for example is having a poor game, he can be seen to be running his balls off for the team. Ross hardly ever breaks into a trot.

So teh fact that a young player has lost confidence means he is finished at the top level?

Think Martinez might be better playing him in just the away games. He does seem a better player to me away from Goodison. His confidence must be low knowing that after an hour he is going to be taken off no matter what he does
