I dont even know where to start with this but here goes.

1 - I dont think there has ever been a link esatblished between use of the word lad and self esteem but please enlightne me if you know better.

2 - If running round a bit was enough than Phil Neville would be a club legend.

3 - I womt embarress you by laughing at the last bit out of respect for your age.

You are going on the ignore list
Yeah because that's how it fkn works on here.

Where you the guy who said he was 'finished' in the match thread the other day? Gave me a right laugh that did! Yeah his legs have gone... lol

Well...at the moment he's not running very much. Remember how, occasionally, he could burst from midfield and get a shot in...sometimes(well, twice) finishing with a spectacular goal? Doesn't/can't do that any more. Remember how he used to be able to tackle? And put in a great pass(occasionally) Doesn't/can't do that any more. But of course theres always an excuse for Ross.....only young, not fit, no confidence, badly coached, frightened of getting injured again, even Bily Syndrome(never played in the right position/he's not a winger/ etc etc) , Naismith gets in his way,(well Naismith does tend to run around a bit, so if Ross stands still(which he's good at), its him getting in Naismiths way). I WISH it were not true, but AT THE MOMENT, he's hardly worth a place on the bench. I hope for his, and Evertons sake, he fulfills his much hyped potential, but its not happening yet.

Barkley was always accused of making too many poor decisions. Now he doesn't make any, content to push the ball, and the responsibilities that go with it, to someone else. You can trace the beginnings of this painful-to-watch current phase of indecision to the public criticisms of Woy Hodgson. In particular his caught on camera, very angry verbal attack on the lad from the touchline in an international game last year was appalling.

We could do with magically erasing from his mind everything that's been forced upon him in recent seasons and let him return to his natural game.

......it's all Roy's fault then. Disagree.

God knows what has happened to Barkley this season but it has been painful to watch.

And his poor form has allowed Naismith - a bloke who is not Top Four material - to become a regular.

I thought Barkley played well against the Young Boys but he was dreadful against Leicester.

I hope we get a top no.10 this season to partner Lukaku. Practically, Lukaku has three years left on his contract and he deserves some support in the form of a pacey, goalscorer. If Barkley gets his mojo back then he can fight for a central midfied spot.

Barkley has gone backwards this season as have a lot of the players is that down to the manager I don't know but a lot of our players are playing nowhere near the quality they are.

Barkley has had a step back this season but most of this seems to be in the confidence department. Part of that blame must fall on Martinez but Barkley has also been given several opportunities to impress. I am by no means giving up on Barkley or think this season diminishes his potential at all. While he is in the current form he needs to be put in places to succeed, which RM has not done. I would like to see the following:

1. Quit playing him on the wing. It actually looks like Martinez sees this finally and has shoved a less ineffective Naismith out there.

2. Play him deeper. If we do a 4-3-3 or a 3-5-2 have him be flanked by McCarthy and Besic/Barry/Gibson. Put him in the middle in a more of a free role but starting attacks and distribution from deeper. However, I do not know how comfortable the team is in the new formation so this is just an option.

3. In our normal 4-2-3-1 then only Barkley and Naismith can play at the same time. Both are much worse players out wide and while Naismith's defensive work rate is better his touch and passing don't work out. Barkley is the opposite and both players have poor positional sense. Unfortunately for Ross. The question is when to play what player. Barkley is at his best this season (Arsenal, Young Boys, etc) when the game is open and we get the chance to counter. It is no coincidence that when we go against teams who pack the box and let us have all the slow build up Barkley can only pass it back and forth. He doesn't have the quick passing or dribbling to go through 3 players. Naismith makes much better runs and his movement causes more problems for the defense. I would start Barkley when we play teams who expect to have the ball and play an open game. Naismith when we play teams with a defense first mentality. Although I don't see RM dropping Naismith anytime soon.

Agree with most of that, apart from the highlighted bit. Barkley alone at Everton has the ability to go past 3 players. Looks like he has been discouraged from trying this in the last 6 or 7 games (apart from Young Boys).
I'm not sure why this is - Martinez orders, crowd getting on his back, dip in form/confidence?
Some fans, of course, just have an agenda against him for some reason - step forward Steve Wigan.

Top four material, Everton FC are not top four material and Barkley isn't top four material either. Naismith might not be top four material but this season has has played so much better than Barkley, and has been a important player for Everton.
How many points has Barkley won us this season? I cant think of any, Naismith on the other hand has scored in 4 drawn games and his persistence set up Lukaku for the Palace goal, 7 points there right off.

This season we have been awful right across the park but he has been one of our better players, maybe that he a reflection of how bad we our as a side, but if Barkley and Naismith can't play at the same time Barkley is quite rightly out.
