Thought he made some nice passes in the game and put more effort in than normal. I Remember him chasing a ball down, challenging, then challenging again and again before it went out. If he did that more often he'd get less stick from the fans.

You're still not reading posts properly.Do you call everyone lad? Something to do with your lack of self esteem is it? The forum is about opinions, about football and footballers. Tell me how Barkley is currently worth a starting place at Everton when he doesn't even run around very much? He should be left out to put him out of his misery, old boy. Your right that he has been overhyped by the press but some people seem to fail to think about the present when it comes to Ross, some give him stick for past performances and where they feel he 'should' be, while others give him a free pass based purely on his place of birth and potential. IMO people should judge him on a game by game basis and if he needs dropping then he needs dropping.

1 - I dont think there has ever been a link esatblished between use of the word lad and self esteem but please enlightne me if you know better.

2 - If running round a bit was enough than Phil Neville would be a club legend.

I kind of agree, but it's a bit if a dangerous game to play with young players. I do think he's the type who needs a good run to cement a place.

He seems to lack confidence right now. One thing I have noticed is his first touch on the ball is shaky, which has caused him to put his head down. By the time he's looking up again the ball he should've played is gone or he's already locked into a tight situation with the defender. His expected ascendancy has slowed, but he is too young to give up on.
