everything that is wrong with modern day football right there, he's on 20k a week and not even an established premier league player. Where's the hunger to succeed going to come from where's the desire to reach the top going to come from. British sport is making egotistical primadonna's of kids that have achieved absolutely zero in their chosen fields.

I actually disagree. I would not be content being loaned out to meff sides and being told that I'm too good to part ways with but not good enough to make the senior side. In all sports, there are stories about players taking the lax because they got the big deal and can't be arsed to make the full effort anymore.

Reaching the top isn't completely based on a player's checkbook. It's titles and silverware, at least it should be.

Two for discussion:

Arteta left for Arsenal to play CL football and maybe get that long deserved Spain cap. Arteta took a pay cut.
Mirallas left Olympiacos for Everton and a pay raise. He could be playing in the CL group stages right now.

How do these square up with your theory.

Don't put this on the players, it's the clubs. If Everton are willing to pay Barkley 20K a week, it's Barkley who'd be the idiot if he didn't snatch it up running and giggling.

Apart from missing my point entirely arteta and mirallas are both established players who left their respective clubs to further their careers and progress, olympiakos might be in the CL but they also are in the greek super league so let's be serious of course he'd rather be in the prem than play 6 CL games a year that argument is pure madness.

My point, that you missed completely was paying 20k to an 18yr old who has done nothing to earn it yet and is not an established player is just crazy and at 18yrs of age on that money are you seriously suggesting he has the same hunger than if he was on say £1k a week(which is bloody good money for an 18yr old) and with the prospect of making £20k a week a tasty proposition should he actually start first team games regular??

Money is all evil. If someone has potential these days there is always someone who will offer to pay out. Clubs do not like missing out. I remember tales of Chelsea stalking Rodwell and offering his family riches beyond belief, so it was claimed.

It does bother me a little that he's on more a week than I am a year and I'm seven years older than him.

I kind of feel like I've wasted a lot of my life.

If it's any consolation I doubt he's nowhere near intelligent enough to be half as pedantic as you are.

Your welcome.

You know i dont think it would have done Rodwell any harm going out on loan when he was Ross's age. He clearly struggles with being involved and manning up in games, no harm learning the game week in, week out and getting a few lumps kicked out of you and learning the cynical tricks of the game in the lower league - its invaluable.

Hopefully we have learned from that mistake.

Answer the question, damn it! Did they extend the loan by 6 days?

Meanwhile, Jones has also revealed that he wants to extend the loan stay of Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.

The 18-year-old has made seven appearances for the Owls during his spell at Hillsborough, scoring one goal.

"Hopefully we can keep him. I think they want us to have him because the kid hasn't done anything wrong," Jones said.
"He's very instrumental in what we are trying to do, his passing and his movement was there."

Does this make you happy? I know you were slightly hesitant about the initial loan.
