Does this make you happy? I know you were slightly hesitant about the initial loan.

That's Jones' spin on it. My take on it is that he's been very average and the team are badly gash, currently stuck in the relegation zone.

I'd still prefer him to be playing and training at a higher level. I think the longer he's there, the longer he's risking injury and the longer he's got to pick up bad habits during the formative stage of his career.

But we'll see...

Do you not think regular game time will sharpen him up and that he will be playing at a higher level than he would be at the club?

That's a possibility of course... We'll see. I think he could have been loaned out to a better calibre of club but meh, going over old ground again.

Maybe see if Arsenal are interested in a loan then?

Barkley won't be able to play for anyone else this season will he? From the FIFA transfer regulations
Article 5, parts 3:

Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during
one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play
ofï¬￾ cial matches for two clubs
. As an exception to this rule, a player
moving between two clubs belonging to associations with overlapping
seasons (i.e. start of the season in summer/autumn as opposed to
winter/spring) may be eligible to play in ofï¬￾ cial matches for a third
club during the relevant season, provided he has fully complied with
his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs. Equally, the
provisions relating to the registration periods (article 6) as well as to the
minimum length of a contract (article 18 paragraph 2) must be respected.

He's played for us in the league cup against Leyton Orient and Sheffield Wednesday in the championship, which is his two clubs for the season.
So the only options are extend the loan, send him to somewhere where their season runs January-December, or bring him back and let him play in the U21's and sit on our bench.

he should get the whole season at sheffield as he won't be a game at Everton now we are out of the capital cup
plus moyes wouldn't play him ahead of Neville or Junior it seems so the lad should stay where he is for the season and get 20 plus games.

Oh absolutley, he's gone to Sheff Wed and that's where he should stay for the time being and best of luck to him.

It's just Tubey said he'd hoped he'd go to a higher quality team than one struggling around the championship relegation zone, and the jackel did the snidey "well I'm sure Arsenal wanted him, like" thing. So I was just saying that better clubs, clubs who win more often like Celtic or Olympiakos were in for him according to rumours. Even if that's all jarg, it's hard to think that someone like brighton in the same league but who are a better team wouldn't want him. Or even someone like Wigan, cleverley style.

I might be wrong but I suspect we chose Sheffield Wednesday ourselevs rather than it was literally the only team that would take him.

well because wasn't he sent out on loan and moyes kept Junior plus he didn't start Barkley in the first round of the cup either
and gave junior a start in the leeds game,

I just have this horrible feeling that he'll get loaned out and loaned out year on year and then fade into obscurity at 24.

Happens a lot that mate....lets hope he gets the opportunity to kick on and makes full use of it...and not waste his oppourtunities like many before him.
