Roberto Martinez features in the Daily Mirror, explaining why he thinks it is important for Ross Barkley to have a 'proper break' this summer after last year's World Cup exploits. EXPLOITS? Did i miss something from last years world cup?

Quite a few players came back jaded after the world cup, i reckon it affected our momentum a bit earlier this season.

Ross has all the potential in the world just needs the right players around him. Last year we had Mirallas/Deulofeu on the right and Pienaar on the left they stayed wide which created the space to play. This season we've had Naismith/Eto'o on the wing who drift inside and Mirallas on the left cutting inside which has restricted the space he gets.

Who's fault is that then playing the 'christmas tree' formation ? Pienaar has been a huge loss.

My point in using the Quote from Marteniz was his talking about exploits of Barkley in the world cup, what exploits is he talking about . would be better to say ok Barkley has been found out we can now say he is good but not as good as we first thought and for him to develope his game a move in the Summer is best for all concerned.

Well he wasn't over there for a jolly. Yeah he didn't get much game time, but they do lots of training and it's obviously much more difficult conditions with the heat and humidity over there.

He played 1 full game and was a sub for 30mins in the other two. He also played in the friendlies.

He probably was in the top 8 of players who played the most amount of minutes and the one of the only ones to play all 3 games.

Any more than 4 games in two years being first choice C.A.M. ? When the going is good he looks good but when it gets tough he vanishes, i really want him to succeed but i just dont think he will be one of the worlds best like everyone hypes him up to be.

Prove me wrong Rossy baby.
Well this year he hasn't been first choice C.A.M, he and Naismith have been swapping between there and the wings which is probably part of the problem. He also had a major injury at the start of the season and last season was also his breakout one.

Personally think we put too much pressure on some of our youngsters and if they aren't Messi like by 22 they are dismissed as overrated. For example I think Oxlade Chamberlain is an excellent footballer playing in a talented team. How many games would you be expecting him to dominate?

You have some good points, just because a player is young doesnt make him world class, just because a player is 30+ doesnt mean he is definately finished. The middle ground of this is that he must show his potential in games consistanlty between the ages of say 23 - 29, in their prime if you like. Im not writing ross off because he has time, but there is certainly a limit for how long we can wait.
