Ross Barkley

That doesn't make any sense though. Those four you listed played four different positions against Wigan on Sat, so he can't possibly need to beat ALL of them to start :P

Ok lets say Fellaini gets a knock. Moyes can move any of those players into his position and fill thier position with another player.

So Pienaar moves, oviedo comes in.

Mirallas Moves, Seamus (or hibbert at RB) comes in

Osman moves Neville comes in(when Gibsons fit)

Now if you disagree that Moyes wouldn't do any of those before starting Ross I can only assume Your an iconic american soul singer that plays piano and does duets with paul Mcartney.

Ross barkley is nowhere near the standard of Wilshere yet guys, come on.

However playing at Sheffield Wednesday will help him no doubt, don't understand how people can't see why it wouldn't help. You only get better at doing something if you do it over and over, regularly, so he needs the game time.

I disagree. You basically just showed he has to beat out Oviedo, Coleman or Neville, it seems like.

Ross will play when Moyes thinks he should. He is in that purgatory between U21 and first team, and Sheff Wed is probably thereabouts, so I approve of him staying until we need him (at which point, well, we're done).

Edit: Maybe you mean it's a bucket brigade, with Ross being after all the other subs. Maybe, but he's young and shouldn't be thrust in without being ready.

So do I, you obviously haven't read the thread at all.

And all them players have people in front of them so he has to beat them too. Moyes has shuffled the pack a lot since Jan and not once has he thought to give Ross a proper go in the League.

And he never will be! Jus don't get all the hype, he hasn't shown me nowt...for us or Sheffield wed!

Well, that's that then. You've called it. I should disregard footballers like Martin Keown and Tim Cahill who have called him one of the most gifted raw talents that England have produced. I should disregard his stellar youth career for England where he has earned constant rave reviews. I should also disregard how he blitzed through the Everton youth academy, to the point where he was on the verge of a run at the first team aged just 16.

Yep, that's all completely irrelevant. He's a waste of space because you've seen him in a few 20 minute cameos in the Everton first team and heard about him on the internet when he's played for Wednesday. :)

Too long without a mention.

Oh come on Tubes, Martin Keown and Tim Cahill?

You dont need to use their judgement, you have the 000s of Everton fans that witnessed him in the QPR game.

Had a little look through fourfourtwo magazine at lunchtime & noticed Barkley had been picked out in one of those 'Best 20 young players on the planet' type of articles. I dont think that sort of thing helps but its fair to say a lot of people in footy think he's gonna be the absolute business.

That used to mean something when England produced good players, he's competing globally now. The last player I saw growing into a player was Frank Lampard, either they're at it from day one or they don't make it.

I'm with the "seen this film before" brigade.

So you're writing off an 18 year old kid who has made less than 10 senior starts in his career.

That sounds reasonable.

I sometimes wonder why I bother coming in the Everton forum.

Didn't you once beat Fred Perry at tennis or something?
