Lololololol Neiler said this:

"Anyone who thinks Adam would be a step back for us seriously needs to watch more footy hes been the best player out of 22 in almost every match he has played this season, a superbly talented player one of the best in the league.

Would be an imense signing for us."
Hey Yanks, next time he tells you Tim Howard is crap...

Let's not beat around the bush here.

If you're boss at footy and you play with a load of average/poor lads then you stand out.

I haven't watched Ross for Sheffield Wednesday so I can't judge, and I don't for a second doubt his talent as we all seen that QPR game, but if he's not standing out in their team then something isn't right.

Couldn't disagree more!!

From my own experience when I was younger and not to blow my own trumpet a very good player...my dad decided to take over a team languishing at the bottom of the league and I left a team in second to go play for him. It was terrible early on, as playing with poor players doesn't make u stand out as such it tends to bring u down to there level. And it's true there not on the same wavelength and u just can't link up with them... Do the things you would normally do.

It really is not as simple as put a good player in a poor team and they will stand out. Players look better with GOOD players around them. And tbf Barkley is not a grab a game by the scruff of the neck type of player anyway, he's much more of a game dictator with his passing - one two's ect... Which I imagine is a struggle at Wednesday.

You've got to think of what moyes is wanting to get out of the loan for Ross. I imagine its all about match day experience, playing for points that matter, under the pressure of a crowd. I imagine its more of a mental loan than much else.

Depending on how bad Felli's injury is and how long he'll be out for, i think we'll keep him amongst the squad for now to make up the numbers and possibly play a part, and then when Felli is fit, and IF we sign Hitzlsperger on a short term deal, send him back out on loan again.

In the cameos in the early part of last season showed me he's got enough about him to be a very good player and loan spells atm are what he needs to nurture his obvious talents. IMHO, i dont think a month out of the club to Sheff Wed is enough though, needs longer really.

Remember Seamus at Blackpool? OK, he went off the boil a bit after hitting the ground running when he came back, but nothing beats regular first team football. Ross will be a future star for us, but will probably end up at Man City!

I've never played at a particularly high level but still think you are spot on!

... and the posts expressing pure horror in this very thread when I suggested a loan move to Wednesday may not be beneficial for the lad...

Might do some rooting through the thread later on for a laugh ;)

Its was beneficial..

He's clearly not good enough to start for us yet and is down the pecking order.

He'd have learnt more in a month that 6 for the reserves.

It doesn't really matter how good or bad Wednesay are, Barkely has been sent there for other reasons than to show off his talent.

He's there to experience full games at an insane pace, not having the time to look and pick a pass will improve his awareness of whats around him and his compusre when under pressure, it'll hopefully make him more physical as well.

Anyone wo expected Barkley to go to Sheff Wed and act like Messi, stealing the show week in week out is mental and has no clue about football. The lad as the skill and technique, he just needs to add the other finer bits to his game that makes him a top footballer.

Anyone know how well he's actually been playing? I know he took a penalty in a league game which seemed a strange thing to ask a 17 year old loanee to do but haven't actually heard to much else. Expected to hear some great reports but I suppose he is playing in a **** side infront of disgruntled fans. Not the best way to play your best stuff.

He'll have to get used to it especially in front of 36k at GP when we're 1 down to Wigan.

So you played for teams managed by your dad to guarantee yourself a start every week? Smart move mate
