It's got a grand total of one midfielder who knows how to tackle....

What score did we get beat last season at Southampton away with a midfield full of players who 'know how to tackle'?
Look at Aresnal, City, Barca. Even Chelsea only really have Matic who is similar to McCarthy in that team were referring to.

A midfield who are good enough don't need to just defend and tackle all the time

Chelsea have Cesc, Ramires, Willian, Mikel hell they even play a CB at RB most of the time.

But you cant really say Cesc is a tackler, he's more of a xavi type player. Also, Mikel and Matic don't really start together. Willian is a right AM who does get stuck in like but my point is that you only really need one anchor to protect the back four. The 2 DM thing just slows us down.....it worked better when we have two proper wingers on the pitch to make space mind

Oh dont get me wrong, I would scrap the 2 DMs myself, in a heartbeat.

And to be fair, it seemed as tho Martinez was trying to phase it out a little himself near the end.

I would 100% play this system for most of the season.

I think that may be the system we go with next season. If Mirallas stays it would be nice to have him, Deulofeu and Lukaku upfront. I'd like to try the DM/CM/AM option at home a few times though and see how it works ;)
