I think we are so used to not having a mercurial football talent of his ilk and calibre we dont recoginise the outstanding gem he actually is. He is going to be the best player of his generation and the core of a nations hopes over the next decade.

We have a footballing genius on our hands and a rare and precious talent - i for one am going to join him. I knew the instant i saw him. I also knew he would struggle this season and its there in the vault - last summer i said he would struggle this year, purely because it was the wrong thing to do to take him to the world cup - England will never learn.

Footballing God - NEA

Marked man, confidence, hype, team struggling...all adds up.

But I agree. Should build around him, make him the focus, let everyone work around him. If he loses the ball, they win it back and give him it back.

That's what happened the season before. We had pure energy in attack and defence. He asked for the ball every second, last season he didn't. He took shots from anywhere that season, didn't last season.

He'll do the business

I feel he needs a different manager to get his best. It feels like Rooney all over again. Moyes playing him sporadically to keep his feet on the ground, shoving him on the wing saying he was too young etc. Ferguson gets him and sticks him upfront every single game and he's world class. We're doing the same with Barkley, limited appearances, being shoved all over the front line because he's not trusted in midfield. Thank god Fergie isn't around because he would have slapped 40 mill down, our gutless board would have taken it, and he'd have started Barkley in a midfield 2 next to a holding mid every game and Ross would be up there with Toure absolutely dominating the league.

Would anyone put Toure on the wing? Vieira, Pogba, Essien? Of course not. They are box to box powerhouses and Ross has all that and more because he's got a belting shot. We've literally got a young Ya Ya Toure on our hands who is a mad blue yet our idiot manager prefers Gareth Barry over him and our fans can't distinguish between performances from Ross in the middle (3-3 Derby, and 3-0 QPR) and his performances on the wing or stuck up front. He'll be gone if we keep abusing him and someone like Mourinho will build a team around him and we'll all be sat here waiting for a saviour from our academy not realising we sold two of them down the river. LET THE SHACKLES OFF ROSS ROBERTO YOU MORONIC CLOWN.
Barkley can take so of the blame but you've nailed it. Martinez takes a lot of responsibility in his handling (the position he's playing him in) of Ross last season. Get the lad back in the middle and just let him play.

Stick him next to McCarthy or Besic. Rotate him with Cleverley when hes off form/tired.

Put a playmaker in front of them.

Job done.

Big season for him this year, needs to knuckle down and get some grit into him, and the fans need to stop finding excuses

Why does he need grit?

Ten a penny players them. He needs to be a player who can split a defence and pick out passes no one can see rather than crunch into tackles and win the ball back.

He can be a unique English player rather than Jordan Henderson with a step over.

Not grit as being a dog of a player like Hendo. I mean show some bottle instead of duck every challenge that comes hjis way, and don't let his head drop so quickly like he lets it

So its a bit more bottle than grit.

TBF he got stuck in and wasn't scared of getting fouled a lot the season after last. I just think his confidence was gone last season.

But if you look at his injuries, they've all been impact ones from collisions. That does effect players.

I think he'll end up somewhere like there within the next 3 years. Just can't see him living up to the hype. I know you're joking, but I'm not, he's got the talent but no application.

Don't you remember 2013/14 season?
