Ross Barkley

When Barkley came on today he, like everyone else, was trying to force the issue. This will always lead to mistakes. I think Moyes was right not to start him today. we played really well.

He got caught in posession twice trying to help us score an equaliser when he didn't have many options on ahead of him.

Its called inexperience and the reason why you bed young players in by giving them game time slowly, not having them sit on the bench until you need a goal against bloody Chelsea then expecting them to produce something.

And like i said in the match thread, our experienced regulars did exactly the same thing as he did whilst he was on the pitch.

He needs a arm round the shoulder and told to keep his head up and ignore the 2 times he lost possession and that he'll get more game time in the future when there's less pressure, like he should have done over a season ago.

Not dumped for being crap cause he did nothing different to what Distin and Jelavic did. And Phil bloody Neville did early on in the game against Wigan and several other teams as well.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand tweets: "Heard a lot about Ross Barkley. 19 years old with huge potential. Show me some dubs lad! His fade looked sharp though..."

FFS...

That had better not be a follow-on from old red nose's recent comments about maybe buying a youngster or two with great potential........

He touched it about 5 times ffs ! Impossible to judge anything today.
Agreed. He wasn't on for very long I was probably a bit harsh there. He did give the ball away but I have confidence in the lad and the future. I would like Moyes to give him more opportunity to show what he can do.

the problem was he obviously likes to play neat football but we were in a stage of running everyone into the box and waiting for him to lump it. not his fault at all. anyway, would love to see him get more game time vs newcastle, every minute on the pitch will benefit the lad, was a tough environment he was thrown into today

He needs game time. And not for the last 13 minutes chasing a goal against bloody chelsea

Through on at the deep end everyone pushed up the field and he made a bad mistake which could have let to a goal.

Osman bollocked him by the way.

But as mentioned above it could have been anyone of the players. He'll learn from that and luckily they didnt score which could have knocked his confidence for six.

He couldnt have been thrown in any deeper if we're honest. Chasing a goal playing CM with only Osman and no sitter to protect.

He didnt impress me but at least we know where hes at.

To be clear - I still think Barkley will prove to be top class for us. Maybe a little cameo like this could be good for him in the long run.

Hows about concentrate on the positives.

Looked very keen to get the ball and didn't shy away when he easily could have done so given the circumstances, some neat touches and not scared to take the shot on when it opened up for him.

Or we could just say he's crap.

...said it before, too much hype on this site about the boy. He's absolutely no Rooney (as some are comparing him too). Dreadful injury hasn't helped him but seeing is beliving and I've never been convinced. Thought Velios looks more effective.

he wants to get on the ball = a plus .... unfortunately todays occasion was just too much for him and if they had a scored at the end i dont think we would be seeing for a long time

Looked lost to me and wanted to much time on the ball.

Needed to realise we were 2.1 down and the pace and pressure was up 100%. He'll only get that with games and needs to go back ob loan.
