Ross Barkley

Can't believe people are hating on Barkley when he lost possession once. He played well enough and did more than most when he got on, people just need to support him.

People aren't hating on Barkley. It's just a reaction to the overhype. We see a similarly aged youngster in Vellios and see him do decent things with the ball. We're not hyping Vellios, but we do recognise him as a good squad player and possible candidate for a future regular first-teamer.

But people have been hyping Barkley as the next Rooney, when his performances in an Everton shirt haven't been anywhere near as effective as someone like Vellios. I know we'd love a local lad to break through again, but we have to be realistic and accept that perhaps Ross isn't quite good enough, at least not at this time.

Nothing against the lad, just against the hype (which never did him any favours).

He isn't ready for the premier league yet, and it may be 2 or 3 years away before he is.

There's no problem with that as he is still a teenager FFS, but can we please stop with the ridiculous hype, and the silly insinuations that Moyes is preventing the next Gascoigne from getting game time just because he is in love with Leon Osman and other senior players.

The reason the senior players are being picked ahead of Barkley is because they are far better than Barkley is right now!!!

Did well today apart from one mistake which wouldn't have looked half as bad if we weren't looking for the equaliser. Wanted the ball, strong on the ball and played it simply and effectively.

Yeah but the lad clearly has the potential, and getting on his back won't help anyone. I can understand the disappointment from people that he didn't come on and win the game for us against the European Champions but we need to be realistic to progress as a club.

He's not under pressure to get a result when he's sent on at 1-2 after 77m - the rest of the team (and fate) have taken a hand in reaching that point. He needs to try to be neat and not force the issue.

He looked composed on the ball, maybe a little too composed considering we were chasing the game, but he didnt look out of place on the pitch, he did alright IMO.

i agree with this, he just needs to get up to the pace of the premiership, he wanted a liitle to much time on the ball at times. The only way to do it is by playing.

Exactly thats why he was more suited to Wigan game last week. But never got a sniff.

I actually get it now. When it was 1-1 oviedo was about to come on.

As soon as they scored to make it 2-1 Oviedo was told to sit back down and Velios was stripped off moments later the same with Barkley.

So going on that, he only sees Barkley as somebody to chase a game not maintain a result and was happy for the draw.

Anyone suggesting hes not good enough because he gave the ball away is way off the mark.

If that had been anybother time in the game it wouldnt have looked half as bad as the whole of the back four would have been there to cover it not just distin. The fact everyone else was in their penalty area made it look 10 times worse.

He went on the pitch trying to impress the fans against the champions, and lost the ball a few times...but better to take a risk and have a run, than just pass it back to the defence.
