Ross Barkley

Vellios did well when he cam on. Barkley just seemed to panic a bit, and looked like he'd lost a yard of pace from when he played against QPR last year. Want to give him a chances, as he looked very good at Sheff Wed. But I don't think he's anywhere near starting quality yet, although Hitz isn't exactly good! Need a CM sharpish if Gibbo is out!

but the other subs did well enough didn`t they?

There was a point where Oviedo kept hold of the ball for too long aswell but was bailed out because there was people covering.

Velios came on and looked ok.

None of them got a foot hold on the game so I cant see where any substitute was better than another.

I was not impressed by Ross today. But as said the circumstances wernt the best.

I just think there is too much expectation being put on him and people start giving Moyes **** if he doesn`t start or isn`t brought on off the bench. Like i said if he is so good he`ll progress naturally, Ive seen glimses off a good footballer when ive seen him but nothing to suggest he should be starting regularly.

If he hadn't had about 3 appearances between August 2011 and December 2012 he might have played a bit better today because he had some experience to draw on.

People claiming he's crap and not ready because he got tackled twice are as stupid and kneejerkey as people claiming he's the next Messi. Which is pretty much no one but doesn't stop it being claimed that they do.

He's a talented youngster, one of the most talented youngsters we've had come through for years. He needs to either out on loan properly, or introduced to the team properly.

He's either nowhere near the team or playing against Man U, Stoke away and Chelsea.

And the most ridiculous part is that any mistake he makes is magnified and used as proff he's not good enough yet he's doing nothing different to what supposedly reliable better players than him do. Young players will make mistakes when they play, they need to learn from them and be encouraged to keep their head up.

Not dumped into the reserves as punishment whilst others who make mistakes continue getting regular games and never get so much as dropped.

Spot on mate. People couldnt wait to say "told you so" after that mistake. Definately something different than what we've had before tbh.

The only reason he got a game was because the squad is so bare at the monent anyway and again Hitzlsperger was goosed at 70 min.

I think he tried to a bit too much when he go the ball. Like trying to impress because he knows it could be another 6 weeks before he sees any more first team action.

He should definitely start against Cheltenham at least.

Felt for Ross today

Thrown in the deep end at 2-1 down made a few mistakes but to judge the lad after only 12 mins on the pitch is just daft

Would really like to see him go on loan to a lower end Prem team like Reading or Wigan

At least he is capitalising his letters and using full stops correctly, he's not a native English speaker, it's quite reasonable for spelling mistakes to creep in.

It's not about spelling mistakes in general, it's about that very particular one: loose instead of lose. It's not limited to non-natives, plenty of english people do it too. It spoils the flow of the sentence.

It is undoubtedly the most misspelt word on the internet. All we can do is to point it out to our fellow blues, in the hope of not seeing it as much here as elsewhere.

But how do we point it out without the self-righteous attacking us?

Every time he ran into trouble or was dispossessed I winced because I knew that Moyes would hold it against him. He is probably trying to do too much. I'd like to see him regularly play the closing stages and to see what he can do with that time and space.

This is spot on. Can imagine him not getting a sniff from now to end of season

He waits so long to get a chance he trys to hard to shine, I think hes thinking if he scores or creates a goal he could get more game time, Today the reverse happened

You were watching a different game to me. He looked composed and kept the ball well, looked to work it around the edge of their box for a shooting position, thought that he did very well.

He made one mistake, Lampard knew far too much and took the ball off him but he was very short of options for the pass.

The other time the ball was lost was due to Jeli not reading his pass which was a basic give and return.
Jeli was out on the right flank.

I hope that Moyes doesn't banish him to the U21's, ideally he should go out on loan for the rest of the season.
