He made one mistake, Lampard knew far too much and took the ball off him but he was very short of options for the pass.

The other time the ball was lost was due to Jeli not reading his pass which was a basic give and return.
Jeli was out on the right flank.

I hope that Moyes doesn't banish him to the U21's, ideally he should go out on loan for the rest of the season.

What I saw was him showing for the ball short (good), running into players and losing the ball on a counter attack (bad), working the ball across the box (good) and misplacing a simple pass (bad). I think Moyes will feel less convinced that he's ready on balance.
 
Apparently young ross got a load of abuse from fans today, and has gone off twitter.

Bunch of pricks.

Was it a full half? I remembr him coming on, you could be right though.

I would say its all part of a plan by Moyes to prove that he's willing to give him games but does it in the hardest ones so he's more likely not to look good therefor enabling Moyes to go "i told you he wasn't ready".

But that would just be daft.

I'd rather he goes out on loan for the rest of the season and stays there really unless he's gonna get regular subs here.

Yeah but he proved in 12 minutes he could cost us games..

edit: i'm not trying to single the lad out because I know he'll be boss one day, but I just hate how everyone fumes at him not being played when everytime he has he hasn't particularly shown us much

Eh? How?

He's an attacking midfield brought on in a 4-3-3 - at the time we had Jelavic, Anichebe and Vellios up front and the midfield consisted of Leon Osman, Bryan Oviedo and Ross Barkley.

We threw caution to the wind. When he was dispossessed late on it was because he was moving from wide right to left and nobody presented him with an option to the edge of the box. It's not his fault we had absolutely nobody back covering.

Pienaar lost possession two or three times early on but we had the shape to get back and cover it.

People are over exaggerating because it's Ross Barkley.

In the last games he's played for he's practically done exactly the same thing as other people have said in terms of trying to over-impress, which has been costly in the past and looked to be today. As I said I'm not wanting to single him out, and I understand we were throwing people forward.

I think if he can settle into our team then yeah he'll prove himself, like at Sheff Wed maybe (although I didn't see him play for them), but we aren't in a position to be throwing him in like that and Moyes knows it.

If we're 2/3 goals up then we might start seeing him more, which will be the best time for him.
