Ross Barkley

One thing I will say though is that Victor probably would have much preferred it if Felli was in there instead of Ross. Had a bit of a stinker did Vic tonight, but he probably would have faired a bit better if Felli was up there with him, he just looked too isolated whenever a high ball came to him.

He won nothing in the air Victor. Was crap tonight.

Yes, noticed this too.

Hmmm I dunno, I think it was more down to them being fitter and having more squad depth. They brought on a player who can probably run 100m in 10 seconds and Podolski, whereas we didn't really have any options on the bench

Osman's been vital all season for me. He's on his arse now as he's spent IMO but we wouldn't be where we are without him, Baines and Fellaini this season.

All about opinions but mine is Osman's been badly crap for three months now. Even before that he was largely a luxury player without any defensive responsibilties - but you only give that role to a player of say Beardsley's quality and Osman's occasional good pass/shot is nowhere near that.

Wer'd be higher in the league if he hadn't played and still in the cup.

You can say that if we had a better striker, a winger who wasnt injured for most of the season, and a centre back pairing that wasnt scared of heading a ball too.

Moyes also applauded the performance of teenager Ross Barkley who came close to scoring what would have been a match-winning goal in just his second start of the season.

However, despite the impressive display from the fledgling midfielder, the Blues boss says that his development must not be rushed.

“It was a good game for Ross and we just need to bring him along at his own pace,” Moyes added.

“There’s an awful lot of folk expecting big things from him but he is not quite ready for that [expectation] yet, so I have to take it bit by bit.”

Since Man City...yeah. But he's played 40+ games this season. He's bound to dip in form. Every player does.

yup so think about how much it would have benefited the team hugely to have given barkley some time and right now to have a fresher osman able to contribute as he did certainly post first England call up etc

I almost orgasmed when he hit that shot. How close was it from actually going in?

I still don't understand why Barkley rarely gets played at Goodison but gets matches away at Stoke and Arsenal. Surely it would be less of a risk to play him in a fixture where we're doing all the attacking and he doesn't have to be quite so disciplined defensively. He did pretty well tonight. It doesn't look like it's too soon for him. In fact it looks like he needs some game time to properly adjust.
