Pienaar on the Rossmeister:

Pienaar said:
There's some good young players coming through and I really want to see more of Ross this season because I see him every day in training and you can see he's a special, special player," Pienaar said.

"Hopefully he'll get his chance this season and help the team push [on] because sometimes you need some fresh legs in the team and he's got that energy to help us.

"I just like the way he plays. I wouldn't say he's a typical English player. He's got a lot of flair and uses both feet so you don't find that kind of player so easily.

"He's still young and he's got a physique as well and maybe he can help the team push on."

I think Steven is absolutely right. Ross needs time ffs. 18 years old player, who had badly broken leg a year or two ago.. I am sure he will be at least solid Premier League player, but there is lot of things why I think he will be a special player. I am not sure if he can play U18 this season and I think he still can, but I think he is mainly going to play for our U21 this season and he will get some minutes here and there regulary for our first team. I expect same thing like Moyes did with Rodwell.

'hopes he plays more, wants him to get his chance, likes the way he plays' sounds like Pienaar is the 'play him moyes you ginger belter' camp, rather than wanting him to stay in reserves and recieve one on one training from lothar stubbs

I've been watching Ross for about 2 years now since I was told all about him, England Und 17,19's and Everton youth and reserves, and I've commented on him a lot on here too, over the last year it's so easy to see why he's not broke into the first team, the kid has so much talent he really does, like Pienaar says he's not a typical English player because he oozes class and flare like a Spaniard, plays with his brain rather than just aggression and athleticism, BUT and it's a big but he has a real big flaw in his game which could totally halt is career, his work rate is very poor especially when the other team's got the ball, he switches off big time and is liable to cost you goals, now i'am not saying here we want him defending but all good midfield players work hard ( like Pienaar) and none more so than the Spanish, when they lose possession we've all seen them hunting in packs to win the ball back, they all graft for each other, No matter who you are, there's no point in having the ability in the first place if you don't have the heart and will to win, Ross wants to be very careful otherwise could find himself playing in the lower league's, which would be such a shame because if HE wants he could be as good as there is in the country, but it's up to him, no one else

Like you I've watched him a lot over the last year. And whilst I agree about the work rate, particularly important under Moyes, I still think that he should be plaaying for 20 mins every game behind the striker. This will allow him to learn to play in the Premier league without his weakness affecting the team too much. Other than that he needs to go out on loan or, much as it pains me to say it as an Evertonian, play for another club - I really mean manager of course - so that his talent is not lost to English football.

Agree, sadly. Although I doubt I've seen anywhere near as much of Ross as yourself. Hope he can sort that side of his game out asap.
