Ross Barkley

I think it allows him a greater authority, as he has a different perspective to anyone of us. It doesnt mean we cant question him of course.

Sorry lad don't want any trouble.

Can you tell the insecure internet posters to pipe down a little and I'll stop please mate. Thanks mate.

Nar lad, these boys been having a good discussion here to be fair to them.

But anybody who thinks Barkley shouldnt have 100 apps already for Everton is either David Moyes or a bad mental mate.

Honestly lad, I dont want no trouble at all, im just here minding my own posting away lad.

I didnt even know it was your thread lad, lemme buy you another 1 and get the missus 1 in as well, no problem here mate.

Yep that massive experience of five games for Preston made his career alright. You're spot on there. ;)

In all seriousness, the Beckham/Preston example of youth development has to be one of the most overhyped things in his career.

Beckham ego was getting big, he knew he would make it from a young age, he wasnt taking it serious and sending him to Preston which made him grow up and take stock of his life, Barkley is quite the same, knows he is quality but got alot to learn, of course i would love him to stay with us but if Moyes thinks it best for him, we have to trust him.

Not sure what barkley is like but i imagine beckham going to preston definitely improved him mentally.

Barkley would get snapped by some hairy grock when he tries his stepovers. No thank you.

Playing at Olympiacos has seemed to helped Mirallas and his stepovers just fine.

The problem with this argument is that it's basically saying "Moyes is the manager so he is infallible".

Which in turn means all fan opinions that aren't supportive of Moyes' decisions are null and void, and it implies Moyes gets nothing wrong.

I do believe Artetafan made this exact point the other day but I wanted to reiterate it. No point in a discussion forum if the only discussion is why Moyes is right all of the time.

I am not for one second even suggesting Moyes is infallible. Yes, I do back Moyes and rate him, but he does make mistakes; there are certain things I think he does wrong and certainly could change/improve on. It is plain fact though that there are things that go on behind the scenes the fans aren't privvy too; every day behaviour/form/attitudes in training that shapes Moyes opinion on players, and would no doubt shape fans opinion if they had the same information at hand.

I don't know what Ross Barkley is like in training on a day to day basis, but I would imagine it shapes Moyes opinion of him and not just the 90 minutes (or 5/10 minutes) he plays each week. I do trust Moyes to handle him correctly though, and I think trying to emulate how the greatest club manager of the modern era handled/handles young players isn't a bad idea at all, no matter how much some people think Barkley is the next Rooney and some kind of wonderkid.

One game. Moyes sees him in training every day. I've seen him for the Reserves numerous times since, when you'd expect him to step up and take the game by the scruff of the neck if he was '1st team ready'. He didn't. He needs week in, week out regular 90 minute football, and when he gets that he will come on leaps and bounds.

But he won't get that at Everton at the moment, nor should he because there are more experienced players ahead of him. We can't afford to have a kid making mistakes for us and costing us games.

That's the next game, after he was easily the best player on the pitch against QPR. He was even one of our better players in that shocking Blackburn game. Go back and look who's involved in everything good we did...

He was took out of the firing line for his own good. I've seen young players like Oster and Cadamarteri and Branch at Everton in the past - played into the ground and did them no good. Introduce the kid gently, and besides, who would he displace in the midfield at the moment?

I don't think letting him start games and then removing him immediately after he gives away a pen and from that point giving him 8 minutes every month is very gentle.
