I don't want him to defend either. Every ounce of his mind should be focused on how he's going to make the other teams defenders look silly. Right now he's playing the 'number 10' or 'CAM' role, if he was playing '6' or '8' 'CDM' or 'CM' and not defending then yeah, complain.

There's a big difference between him not throwing himself into tackles left, right and centre like Barry or McCarthy do though and neglecting your duty to the team like he's done a few times this season.

His duty is to get the ball forward and create attacks, which he does do.

Come on he's got just as much responsibility to defend and keep shape as everyone else otherwise it leaves us exposed like against Chelsea, West Brom and Liverpool.

But he's young and it's a lack of concentration that's more the problem but it's still his responsibility to defend like the rest of the team.

He doesn't have any need to do it, he's an attacking player and should be judged on his attacking prowess, not his defensive ones.

If he had any part of that, he'd be a much more complete player. You can't convince me that him never getting stuck in and making a tackle is a good thing...even if he were to do it higher up the pitch the Barry and McCarthy. He also can't seem to defend corners for the life of him. Because he can't or because he's not arsed to do so? Seems obvious considering his obvious physical capability.
