Ross Barkley

And for all Wayne's success at OT he never became the player he looked like becoming when he burst on the scene for us and for England.

Ferguson turned him into a workhorse while indulging Ronaldo and giving him a pathway to superstardom.

Agree completely about Rooney.. he had his spark coached out of him and became a very good team player. It is a testiment to his attitude really... Rinaldo had to be the main man or he cracked it... this gave him everything he needed to get to where he is today... he would never have accepted Rooney being the superstar....Rooney accepted it for the benefit of the team and done it again later when he played out of postition at the cost of his own goals tally etc...

...I criticise him for not being a 'cometh the hour, cometh the man' footballer, a player who delivers when his team most need it. I said recently there haven't been enough Barkley 1-0 results. With last nights rain I said it needed a low skiddy shot from range to score and I've said there's no better sight than Ross Barkley running with a football.

He delivered last night and his goal will be a fitting memory if that's his last game in Blue at Goodison.

There are a lot of people going to look very foolish with their gross underestimation of Ross' talent when he goes else where and lights it up.

You don't know what you had until you lost it comes to mind.

Why would we look foolish, most of the fans want him to stay, the board wants him to stay as they have offered a contract. Koeman wants him as he always start him and improved him as a player.

The lad doesn't want to stay and maybe he will do better at another club but that won't make us look foolish. Maybe the pressure is to much for him at the club.

He's arguably right where he should be - he's not got enough for a starting slot in any team above us.

We know he's a real confidence player and a spell on the bench somewhere will do him no good.

If he wants to get out of the city after his spat then he can do just that and remain at the club, don't see that being a massive issue.

When those teams not in the top 6 come to Goodison they pack their defence and make it difficult for us to break them down. Barkley has been instrumental in numerous home games this season in adding that little bit of spark that has broken down stubborn defences. Can he do it against those in the top 6 - he is a bit hit and miss at the moment.

Now that we are back to making Goodison a difficult place to play for the all teams. Our challenge to get higher than 7th will depend on our away form. Koeman has to find a way to win at least 8 away games. Can Barkley be instrumental in delivering that bit of spark/magic away from home? Or is he just a very good squad player that will not be the first name on the team sheet but will be used in games if and when Koeman thinks he will be most productive.

He needs to sign as we are the best place for him, to try and move him up to the next level, so that he is dominating games and the opposite are terrified when he is on the pitch. But if he doesn't it is not the end of the world and we move on.
