Ross Barkley

Damned if you do and damned if you don't, Everton have played this right, offered the contract and kept it open, withdrawing before season end would have made Barkley the martyr to the (some) fans. Keeping him playing and get as many pounds as possible if he won't resign. Barkley is in the Shaqiri stable of attacking footballers, moments of brilliance yet never consistent.

He's not even that good.

Looked so confused and down at the end near the centre circle.

I think he needs some help. Fans on at him the whole time has made him crumble and this contract thing has not helped.

I can't see him signing. He needs to sort his head out.

Was our most creative player today BUT again did not shoot when he had the first opportunity and took a touch too many and chance was gone.

Even if he stayed - the lad isn't getting regular football at Everton next season.

Koeman keeps talking about needing players with more intensity, more aggression - that isn't Ross Barkley is it?

Koeman's done well to bang the drum - lets hope there's a couple of clubs waiting to put him on their bench.

I still maintain this;

Crux of it;
"But if you need so much time then you have doubts - I like to work with players who like to stay."

As indecisive off the field, as on it...

Wish the lad well, but Everton first and I don't think Barkley is good enough to bridge the gap with the teams above us.

Raw ability will only get you so far, I think he lacks the nous to ever be a top player. You'll see flashes on instinctive brilliance, but 9/10 when he gets the ball you can almost see the cogs ticking. Years we've all said his decision making would improve in time - I don't think it will. I also think he's fragile.

In an ideal world, he'd sign an compete with the players who come in, but if there's a Spurs out there who will pay a premium because of the nationality on his passport and the Evertonian 'prospect' hype, sell.

If he stays, unless we have a repeat of the last 2 transfer windows, he'll not be in Koeman's starting 11 most weeks. Convinced.

We've over-hyped him as we do so well in Merseyside - and the cracks are now showing.

with 1 year left on his deal? i think its 25-30 regardless of Koeman's comments

If you look at the prices for certain players at the moment, yes, £40m all day, and that's still cheap, even with the contract length.

We should get £40m easily. It's basically the "new" £25m.

Personally I would love him to stay but it is quite clear he is off and that he and Koeman don't get on. Seeing as he is going we need to get as much as we can for him. This season has summed him up perfectly really, at times he has been brilliant and at others he has been woeful, if he moves to a club in the Champions League he will need to raise his level more often to stay in the side, good luck to him for the future but my focus is Everton and players that will be on the pitch for us next season.

Sad that it's come to this. Will be very surprised if we see him in blue again and the end of the 'what could've been'.

Would have loved him to stay to see if he could kick-on with better players around and less pressure around him. Suppose we'll find out when he joins Spurs.

Not a chance in hell we'll get that for him. Agree with the £25-30M price bracket.

said this last week

Koemans well told him he's not a guaranteed starter next season and he's seen his arse over it

The lad has potential,his vision is awful though.

its sad that a proper blue doesn't want to stay and prove himself, a die hard evertonion would rather take the easy way out than fight for his place
