Doubt it mate.

I think (and hope) we have a deal in place now.

No club calls a press conference to give a fanfare of trumpets to announce that a player hasn't signed a deal yet.

It's done and dusted imo.
Has it called a press conference? Didn't Koeman say he'll talk with the player and board and a statement will be made? Two very different things

Maybe Ronald could have had a quiet word with Ross, give him the ultimatum of next week or whatever, but Him coming out and telling everyone at a Presser was wrong. He could have just said 'were still in talks, there's still a few things to iron out', whatever. This hasn't done Ross any favours amongst an already fractious support from fans towards him. He has been hung out to dry a little bit. There's was no need for Ron to come out and say what he said whilst there was still games left, not doing anyone any favours at all.

He's been having 'quiet words' for months.

He needs - we need - a decision from the player.

Maybe, no idea personally. But elite footballers, which he is, have shown a strength of character and determination to succeed that few on here could even contemplate. Just look at the 100s of very very talented players that just dont make it to the very top. All excellent players, but that 5% is missing.

Barkley is not a shrinking violet.

But I take your point that players need different treatments.
That's a very valid point to make.

To make the cut at all levels and age groups and become a PL player requires a huge physical and mental effort. Yes, he must have fortitude. I just think the constant background music of a manager and/or crowd on his case cant do any player any good. And that's what he's faced this season.

There's been a bullying element to this that I found pretty distasteful.

I don't think a press conference has been called. And I don't think Koeman meant a statement would be released by the club tomorrow necessarily. Board meeting tomorrow, statement in the coming days in anticipation of Barkley refusing to sign.

The club will view a sale of Barkley as a good move because we paid nothing for him. £30m for nothing.

They are yeah, and its the latter. Still, you dont make a song and dance of announcing no deal in place yet do you?

So what could they possibly say? "We announce we have no deal in place for Ross Barkley at this time. More as we have it"?

Ross would be a mug not to sign cause if he does leave he won't force himself into the teams above us.

He seems to lack that game intelligence that other number 10's have, don't get me wrong his one of own but objectively he seems just not quite good enough.

Inconsistent
