No club calls a press conference to give a fanfare of trumpets to announce that a player hasn't signed a deal yet.
It's done and dusted imo.
Missed that bit. Cool. Could be Rom mind, or both.
Yeah, I know.

One or two appear to be short circuitedWith some player's that's good. It energises them. With Barkley tension works the other way. Just the way the lad is wired.
Doubt it mate.
I think (and hope) we have a deal in place now.

Has it called a press conference? Didn't Koeman say he'll talk with the player and board and a statement will be made? Two very different thingsDoubt it mate.

Maybe Ronald could have had a quiet word with Ross, give him the ultimatum of next week or whatever, but Him coming out and telling everyone at a Presser was wrong. He could have just said 'were still in talks, there's still a few things to iron out', whatever. This hasn't done Ross any favours amongst an already fractious support from fans towards him. He has been hung out to dry a little bit. There's was no need for Ron to come out and say what he said whilst there was still games left, not doing anyone any favours at all.
That's a very valid point to make.Maybe, no idea personally. But elite footballers, which he is, have shown a strength of character and determination to succeed that few on here could even contemplate. Just look at the 100s of very very talented players that just dont make it to the very top. All excellent players, but that 5% is missing.
Barkley is not a shrinking violet.
But I take your point that players need different treatments.
Barkley has also had the chance to say something, as did Lukaku did.Honesty comes from both sides involved.
Who's to say Ron isn't being the bell in this by giving ultimatums out to the press

Same difference.Club statement isn't the same as a press conference.
They are yeah, and its the latter. Still, you dont make a song and dance of announcing no deal in place yet do you?Has it called a press conference? Didn't Koeman say he'll talk with the player and board and a statement will be made? Two very different things

It's really not. One is a statement one is a festival of drivel most of the timeSame difference.
So what could they possibly say? "We announce we have no deal in place for Ross Barkley at this time. More as we have it"?I don't think a press conference has been called. And I don't think Koeman meant a statement would be released by the club tomorrow necessarily. Board meeting tomorrow, statement in the coming days in anticipation of Barkley refusing to sign.
The club will view a sale of Barkley as a good move because we paid nothing for him. £30m for nothing.
