Ross Barkley

Of course it is, but local means something, at least to me anyway.

Yeah its means something to all of us but it only gets you so far, with Ross its been 4 years and now a lot of fans are feed up with him, and having a contact on the table and not signing but also not saying anything isnt doing himself any favors

Statement.

"When I bought into Everton, I made it clear I was proud to join a family. And we don't turn our backs on our own. Keeping Ross Barkley is a priority and ultimately we can not proceed with a deal that will jeopardise his place at Everton."

I've a feeling a certain posters stance on most issues are fluid depending on his own antiboard/manager/chairman personal agenda.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Koeman and Moshiri. Happy to give Koeman another two years before judgement, happy to give Moshiri this summer before judgement.

No agenda whatsoever; just saying it as I see it. Can't speak for others.

and the conspiracy thickens.

I don't like how Koeman has handled the situation & if it was a choice between Koeman leaving or Ross leaving, i'd wave goodbye to Koeman. I believe in building a squad of boyhood Evertonians (or with as many as possible).

That being said, I don't believe Koeman has been sent to planet earth to destroy Everton and obliterate us into a thousand pieces either. Davek...

Just don't understand the obsession with 'local' players. Surely what we want are great players, regardless of where they were born
Presumably you're OK with a major shareholder who isn't local judging by your user name?
Or perhaps we should have stuck with Bill. Local lad don't ya know (and Evertonian)

Is it actually? How do you know how long the contract's been on the table for?

Since March. Koeman confirmed no rush in December, confirmed contract offered in March.

Then he set his deadline the other week... to an employee under contract fulfilling his duties.

If the club wants to sell Barkley if he doesn't sign by a certain date, that's their prerogative. However, it's not Koeman's job to go public on it and villify a contracted employee whilst he's simply getting on with his job.

Or or...

"Employer offers employee a contract, says sign by next week or we'll sack you, tells everyone in the workplace about it happening."

That's the actual real world comparison.
The club have handled this terribly unless they're trying to push him out the door.

They've successfully turned the fanbase against Barkley without him saying a word. It's weird how quickly people have sided with the employer when the employee hasn't moaned. But Lukaku regularly opening his gob is ok.

There was absolutely no reason for this to play out in the press, and it's dirty pool by playing with Barkley's emotional ties to the club. Were I him, I'd not sign simply due to these tactics, regardless of how I felt about it to begin with.

How is it the manager's fault then if a contract has been on the table since March? He didn't come out in March and say "Ross has two months to sign this contract or we're selling him". After two months of being arsed about by him and his agent I really don't blame him for getting impatient.
