As usual you are glossing over the facts - dave hickson was sold against his will - a petition from the fans - alan Ball sold without being asked - nothing to do with Bosman - the fans knew nothing till it was too late - this was a manager giving an ultimatum before the last game of the season - hand on heart if you think this has been handled by our club well ok if we knew nothing and when July the 1st came it was announced that there was a problem and RB may be transfer listed its then been kept in house - not this debarcle of news dirty washing in public affair
I defend him , but to me he is going I feel to reading these pages his support is waning for him if he feels not wanted by the club and the many posters on here who feel they know everything in his contract - then if he goes I wish him all the best as I feel he will become a very top midfielder as Rooney proved to be !I've resigned myself to him leaving and have already written off the next two average seasons and am looking forward to 2019/2020 when we get in a top manager and Barkley is brought back.
Informing fans is not my point he issued an ultimatum before the last game of the season !Dave Hickson a petition from fans but fans knew nothing you say?
Alan Ball sold without being asked, so was Lineker apparently.
Which would you prefer because you seem to contradict yourself
1. nothing said and Barkley sold
2. Manager answering the question asked honestly thereby informing fans of what's going on
Think Koeman will want him to go now after the international fiasco

He was sold to cheaply , and now like @davek stated why was this contract left to run down if he had the same feelings last year then we should have got top money last year or thrashed out a good deal for him - this has turned into a public debarcle - Moshiri needs to kick backsides too!
No way I was full on expecting him to be shifted on!I read somewhere it may even have been the OS maybe last month that koeman said he wanted McCarthy to be a big player this year and was going to be integral. I don't personally see where he fits in bar being a squad player
Informing fans is not my point he issued an ultimatum before the last game of the season !
not great in negotiations is it?????
A manager does not ever get involved with contracts he is there to support a player not stab him in the back by giving ultimatums the same guy who shafted his contract with Southampton!
Hw was not that honest with Southampton - come on every game we played badly this season who got the blame ???I see nothing wrong with offering a contract with 15months left on it(could be more) became public at this stage. At least one side is telling us what's going on while Barkley hides under a rock... I much prefer Lukaku's style of telling us what he wants while banging in goals than what Barkley is at...if I want a mystery I'd read Agatha Christie and as for your bashing of Koeman for answering the question honestly when asked and saying he needs an answer at the end of the season consider this; if nothing was said and Barkley was sold July 1st how would you feel? I for one would be very annoyed at that. I find Koeman's honesty refreshing, especially after 3 years of Phenomawaffle from Meester Eeecredible.
We paid the compensation FGS he just walked out on them after telling them he was staying -like one day he will either be sacked or walk out on us - his record is an average of three years per club!Again Joey get your facts straight
Koeman didn't 'shaft' his contract because Southampton were compensated, exactly the same as a transfer fee
He had told Barkley long before the last game that he needed to know at the end of the season and negotiations were going on long before it
Barkley was saying nothing so there needed to be a deadline
Ultimatum was a phrase coined by the press who asked again pre Arsenal and Koeman answered
Barkley is the one saying nothing so he's the one not great
Koeman said 'I can't know if he won't say' 'I want to keep the player, that's why we offered him a contract'
I don't really know what it is you want from Koeman, to keep quiet say nothing and let his player decide everything. Like flogging a dead horse with you really, if it was another player you have less affinity with you'd probably be fine with it.
I want Barkley to stay but I want him to say something too...it's a joke, he's acting like a kid
