Ross Barkley

Yeah he's gone clearly.

Will be interesting to see who to. I think at this stage it'll drag on until the window closes - we'll set a high price, clubs will lowball us until we accept something late on.

My guess is probably £35m to a Spurs/Arsenal/United, which is a ridiculous bargain for them.

Hw was not that honest with Southampton - come on every game we played badly this season who got the blame ???
Ross - while other players stunk the place out as I stated it has been handled very badly by the club if he signs then fine but if he goes on to be another Rooney -fans like you will forget what you posted then moan if RK moves on!
we only sold him for 30 milion etc look at him now etc
having a dig at a youth player who has come through the ranks is imo harsh!
You have not been, and I respect your opinion - others have vicious, some posters have, and been rightly reported - yes we all hope he stays , but the club have gone public far too early imo if he wants to go the sell him and then explain!

Ross will never be another Rooney...

This time next week the non internationals will be back training.

This situation needs sorting out sharpish.
Agreed. Although I do think that this'll be a protracted saga as we've shown that we are willing to play the hard ball approach with players/clubs.

We'll not be looking at selling on the cheap so I doubt he'll be sold either easily or soon (if he does), or the contract negotiations will take a while.

The manager isn't there to blow smoke up the players backsides - that was tried by the previous clown in charge and that worked well didn't it?

He's there to give praise when earned and to give a rocket up the backside when required. He also has a squad to consider, not just one player. He was asked a question about Ross, he gave an honest answer. If what we know is true - and that he was offered a £100k pw contract - then that is a more than generous offer. For whatever reason, that contract remains unsigned. Koeman wants to know what he has to work with going into the summer window so I think his ultimatum was fair game. The fact that Ross is "one of our own" frankly has nothing to do with the situation - ultimately he is a member of the playing staff just like all the others. If he wants to stay then fine - sign the contract. If not, then off you go.

He is not going to any of those clubs.

that's simply not true...it wasn't always Ross at all that always got the blame, just not true...you have blinkers on.
He is very unlikely to be another Rooney but I hope for his sake he could get close to it anyway whether he's with us or not but he would need to man up a bit I feel.
One key difference in our viewpoints is you would prefer him sold first and then we get an explanation and I would prefer to know in advance what's happening....nothing we can do about that now. I think people getting heated on here are shocked that he would even consider leaving tbh and that's why he's probably getting more grief about it. By the same token his mistakes will be amplified at another club and fans will be less forgiving of him... I honestly feel he is more likely to become another Sissoko at Spurs rather than a Rooney at Utd but could well be a Siggurdson at a Swansea too... He's better off here(as Koeman said himself) and being part of something special

As usual you are glossing over the facts - dave hickson was sold against his will - a petition from the fans - alan Ball sold without being asked - nothing to do with Bosman - the fans knew nothing till it was too late - this was a manager giving an ultimatum before the last game of the season - hand on heart if you think this has been handled by our club well ok if we knew nothing and when July the 1st came it was announced that there was a problem and RB may be transfer listed its then been kept in house - not this debarcle of news dirty washing in public affair
Selling players against their will in years gone by, has zip to do with Ross being called out about his contract. The club has to protect the asset value of it's players, Bosman means that they can't allow high value players to enter the last year of their contracts.

We paid the compensation FGS he just walked out on them after telling them he was staying -like one day he will either be sacked or walk out on us - his record is an average of three years per club!
Thats the way the game has gone OK!
RK has had more clubs than a golfer!

And I'm fine with that lol see where the chips land!

They're not though, but oh well.

No credible links to Spurs, Arsenal, United. He's deffo going there though lads, honest.

He's obviously not going to West Ham, I never said that. He and his agent obviously anticipated a scramble for his signature which shows no signs of materialising. I'm betting he realises what a mess this whole thing has become, and as others have said, I see no other outcome than him eventually signing a new deal. Running his contract down another year and leaving on a free is of course another option. There would doubtlessly be takers in that situation.

I'd be delighted if we got £35m for him, however talented he may be I think he's a sandwich short of a picnic. It's hard to fathom what has been going through his head for the last 12 months or why he thinks he will be better off elsewhere, think he's making a mistake but if he wants out then that's that.

Ross - while other players stunk the place .....

I fear this is re-writing history or fake news. Loads of people got stick for poor performances. The problem with Ross is we all know he CAN do it, he just DOES NOT too often. When you have that talent, it should be consistently good performances with an occasional fantastic one and very few poor ones. That is not what we get, we get an occasional fantastic performance mixed up with a lot of rubbish (by his ability) and an occasional good one.

As regards honesty, Koeman was clearly frustrated at the lack of response from the Barkley camp, EFC are well within their rights to say, contract offered, sign or leave. Fans know what the situation is, so no surprises (or shocks) and Barkley knows exactly where he stands. Cannot see the issue at all.

With regards to sales of former players in different era:

Ball went because he had gambling debts and the club would not bail him out again (allegedly)
Lineker was bought in public on TV by Terry Venables at the world cup tournament, effectively leaving the club nowhere to go as this had unsettled the player and the team.
Rooney wanted away to earn big bucks and win something (he achieved both very adequately) When we sold him for 30 million it was the biggest deal for a teenager in history. You cannot judge that deal by modern prices - and the club was skint and had to sell.

EFC approached Southampton legitimately and properly and they allowed us to buy Koeman out of his contract

Sometimes we should decide if a player is bigger than the club - and Barkley certainly isn't. Sign or toddle off, it is as easy as that.
