I have to say that , personally , I find it difficult to fully support a player who was planning to jib us off so cynically and thus denying us the funds to replace him at the same time. If a player has no commitment to the future, find his replacement as soon as possible.
Obvious move for him if he were to move.http://www.[Poor language removed]/en-gb/2017/06/29/newcastle-should-make-evertons-ross-barkley-their-marquee-summer/?utm_medium=share+button&utm_campaign=social+media&utm_content=/en-gb/2017/06/29/newcastle-should-make-evertons-ross-barkley-their-marquee-summer/&utm_source=Twitter
Rafael Benitez is expected to bring in some top quality signings to St James' Park this summer, with the Toon Army expecting a successful return to the Premier League.
The Spaniard will be looking to add a 'marquee' signing to his group during the course of the off-season, and with this in mind, who better than Toffees exit-linked midfielder Ross Barkley.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, but with the Mirror's report claiming that Spurs are unwilling to match Everton's £25 million asking price, Newcastle could swoop in and poach the England international from under Daniel Levy's nose.
And what a signing Barkley would be for the Tyneside outfit.
His ability to pick out a killer pass, combined with his tight ball control in the final third could prove to be a tremendous asset for Benitez side, as they make the step up in quality to the Premier League.
Whilst the Magpies have plenty of options in the middle of the park, they do seem to be bereft of someone who can unlock the opposition defence during a tight game, and the Blues star could be just the man for the job.
He could strike up a fearsome central midfield partnership with Jonjo Shelvey, but could equally be deployed by Benitez in the wide attacking areas, which would help add another layer to the Magpies' attacking play.
With just one year remaining on Barkley's current deal with Everton, £25 million seems like a fair price, and if Newcastle manage to bring him to Tyneside, he could make all the difference for them next term, and at the same time, reinvigorate his own career ahead of the World Cup next summer.
Starting to think he might actually go now. Has dragged on too long for there not to be any genuine interest in him moving on. Be genuinely gutted if he goes.
