Sell to buy chumps out in force lol If a player wants to leave then it is better to sell them unless there is an extremely good reason not to. We aren't selling Ross to fund Sig
No we are buying Sigurdsson to replace Ross.

Do you really think Koeman would have both in the squad given how similar they are and when we can't afford a replacement for Coleman that isn't on a free?

Feel utterly sick at the thought of him going

Me too.

That side that was flying with Del - Stones - Barkley - Lukaku in 2013/2014 or whatever it was dismantled inside three years, such a shame.

£140m+ in profit on those four I suppose we'd end up so I suppose that's a positive

As mentioned every club is, but we have our own funds. We won't go onto spend a further £100m more on players because we've spent loads already, and you can't simply spend for the sake of it and expect top players to join offering them a place on the bench. We've laid our foundations this window and there's plenty more in the tank for future windows to kick on. With the current buys and the muted additions, we've played a blinder and will have virtually bought a whole new team. Buying for the sake of it is a ridiculous notion.

Why are we buying for the sake of it ?

I think we are all in agreement in that we still need another center back, left back, striker and winger/forward. That is minimum I would say. That isn't buying for the sake of it. That's adding squad depth to a squad that is about to play between 50-60 games this season.

By the end of this window the numbers from players sold to players brought in will roughly be around the same.

We both know it.
So what?

The ' we must have a massive net spend' argument is just [Poor language removed] waving nonsense. The only players we're selling are lads Koeman doesn't want plus 2 who want / wanted away.

We've never spent anywhere near £100m in advance of sales, in fact when we were genuinely sell to buy, we couldn't by a soul until the money was already banked

Ok we will use the real phrase.

We won't/can't sign players unless we sell first or have 100% guarantee of a player being shipped out (see Lukaku)

We'll never see this football club challenging for major honours unless we have a window where we keep our best, ship out the average for chump change and invest in some top top quality to add to what we already have. Despite us bringing in a few additions, we don't have the quality depth needed and we are a couple of injuries away from yet another season slipping away.

As things stand right now. An injury to Mason Holgate or Michael Keane and we are struggling already.
Has the window ended you utter melt? It hasn't so how can you claim we are sell to buy? If a player wants to leave, then it is better to let them go than forcing them to stay because it creates off field tension.

Because we'll probably go out and buy them in this window, over and above that is buying for the sake of it. We can only field 11 players.

I'd honestly argue they are completely different players

It's a bit embarrassing how so many on here act like they're 13 years old and just been dumped by their first bird whenever a player wants to leave.
Why would I wish a player well who has purposely ran his contract down to engineer a move and rob his boyhood club of millions?

Nothing wrong with that...its called good business. No point in throwing money away just because we have loads. The myth of 'net spend'is dead in the water, finally. Even Chelsea are business like in their transfers these days...the spend on Bakayoko(?) and others will be compensated by the fee they will receive for Costa, and they've just received £20 million for Ake. When Sky say 'so much has been spent in the window', they don't mention, that if its been spent, someone else has received it. Millions and millions is just washing around, going to one club from another, and vice versa. Its just that some clubs have immediate access to money...like City etc, and like Everton, these days.
