I think we've got to take the contract off the table in the next few days and move on. He's had an age to decide and if he still declines by next weekend then tough. We have a competitive game in 10 days and can't let it drag on into August. Sign, or be frozen out on the transfer list.

Agree on this, we have far more important things to worry about now then him, I think this is why he didnt go to Tanzania, last thing we need is a player hanging around who isn't committed to the club

You have zero bargaining tools if you do that and practically giving him away

We can afford to take a stance when its John Stones with 3 or 4 years left or even Lukaku with 2 years, we cant afford to take a stance on a player who refuses to sign a new contract and by all accounts has made it clear he wants to move on.

At this point its about getting the best fee and moving on.
Disagree mate. I'm not saying we shouldn't sell, and as a self confessed lover of the player it's very hard for me to say that. I'm saying that we shouldn't sell at any price. The "best fee" you speak of could be anything. We need to be seen to be getting close to the amount that we want, otherwise it will be seen as us rolling over once more to one of the big boys. That's a tag that we need to get rid of now if we're going to be taken seriously as a club.

The club haven't helped by putting a £50m price on his head. Anything less than £35/40m with add ons would be seen as a come down imo.

In simple terms it's called

' content with finishing 7th ' or ' the best of the rest '

I think your agenda is getting in the way of your clear thinking. All of the squads in the top half have improved and we have improved more than most. 'content with finishing 7th' and 'best of the rest' are merely internet graffiti and have no substance in any discussion.

Sorry I must have missed the club statement declaring we would only sell for 50m, thats not me trying to be funny, im just saying, we have never said we want 50m.

What we have said is that if he doesnt sign a contract, he will be sold.

We arent rolling over for anybody, we are player trading, the longer this drags on, the lower the price gets, we cant just sell Barkley to anybody, he seems only currently interested in 1 place currently. The player holds all the cards here, just move him on, get the money and move on.

He has obviously seen the clubs intent with players brought in and more to come, the stadium in the pipeline
and he still will not sign an improved contract, which suggests he wants out. I think the club basically has to take whatever we can get for him in this window, clubs are not exactly falling over themselves to sign him up though ............ Needs sorthing one way or the other as we dont need negativity going into the new season

I have a feeling the two clubs won't find a price they can agree on. Levy won't be afraid to walk away and Everton won't be afraid to stick to a very high price.

There's also a difference with how the 2 clubs view players in the last year of their contracts with Everton willing to pay £30m for Keane into the last year on his contract but Spurs expect a significant reduction like they got with Wanyama at £9m last summer.

So you reckon the club had absolutely no input in the £50m price tag being bandied about? Personally I'd be surprised if that were true.

Even if they didn't, just going on players prices this summer anything less than £35m is a steal imo, irrespective of how long is left on his contract.

Barkley holding us to ransom by only wanting to go to one club, if anything strengthens my resolve. Don't sell unless they come close to matching our valuation.

Agreed. Keep him another year if Spurs don't pay up. Play hardball. If we lose him for free next year so be it.
