I have a feeling the two clubs won't find a price they can agree on. Levy won't be afraid to walk away and Everton won't be afraid to stick to a very high price.

There's also a difference with how the 2 clubs view players in the last year of their contracts with Everton willing to pay £30m for Keane into the last year on his contract but Spurs expect a significant reduction like they got with Wanyama at £9m last summer.

Ignoring price/contract/Levy/EFC, as a Spurs fan, honestly, where would he fit into your current side? Assuming no significant sales in midfield.

Welcome to a bit of positivity, other than the ones who want to be like the local lynch mob on here today!
We all hope he stays don't we?????
I think 99.99% do mate, but it is looking increasingly less likely by the day. That's why our built in self preservation mechanism is starting to kick in early. It lessens the blow when he finally does sign for somebody else.

At this point, NEA if he leaves. Had plenty of opportunity to sign the contract. If he stays he will have to fight for a place, he won't be a guaranteed starter.

Spurs fan here. I am really keen for us to sign Barkley. Poch seems to have the golden touch with young English players and I honestly think the reason Poch wants him is he believes he can make this kid a top quality PL player. I also wonder that instead of a number 10 which Barkley sees himself in, Poch views him as a long term successor to Dembele in the middle of the park. Both skillfull and strong on the ball. Dembele is 30 this season and will have to be managed so that he doesn't pick up injuries.

I wonder what Everton fans think, if he could play this type of role? He isn't ousting Alli from No 10 let's be honest.

Regarding the likelihood of a transfer, I think this has deadline day written all over it.

By all accounts we were prepared to let Lukaku's contract run into it's final year which would have knocked at least £30m of his value. I can't see Levy offering close to that sort of figure so I can't see why we would accept any knock down bid.

I think this is about right.

Spurs might want Ross, but they don't need him. We'd probably be happy selling him for 35 million or above, but don't have to sell him for 25 million. Maybe there's some middle ground at about 30 million, but I wouldn't be surprised if the contract offer is left on the table till the end of August, nothing changes and Ross remains an Everton player

Doubtless while I'm typing this an official "leak" will be made via Joyce that a deal's been struck at 25 million and I'll look mighty silly.

I hope Ross stays, overall, he was one of our better players post Christmas, and he could well improve, but I havn't a clue how it'll end up.

Agreed. Keep him another year if Spurs don't pay up. Play hardball. If we lose him for free next year so be it.
Hooray! Somebody agrees with me. Thought I was fighting a lone battle there mate.

I just feel as though we need to man up as a club and not be taken for a ride by one of our players or one of our competitors. Why should we offload a boss player for buttons to one of our main adversaries. Okay he can go for free next year but that's the price we have to pay. You never know, there may even be a role reversion with us ending up with CL football and Spurs not.

If you do get Barkley and Poch wants to play him as a central midfielder, tell Dier to get fitter than normal. He'll be doing Barkleys chasing for him.

Let's be honest if he goes to Spurs all he will be doing is the job that sissoko had last season and that's sitting on the bench and pissing off the fans on the few occasions he gets a run out. He'll be at Newcastle or West Ham within 2-3 years

Exactly. A lot could happen in a year. He could end up choosing to stay or we could lose him for free but I reckon we shouldn't let Spurs/Levy take charge of the situation.

I'd let him run his contract down. Come January they all know they can get him for free but they all know that whoever pays him the most will get him. So that's Spurs out of the equation, Arsenal will offer him megabucks and he'll end up a very rich substitute.......

Almost all of us think that is prob his best position but Moyes, Martinez and now Koeman never trusted him there.

Although one of the few times he played there albeit against QPR he was MOM.
