Ross Barkley

Not sure why people are making an issue out of him not travelling, question is why would they want him to travel? These trips are also about the new players bonding in with the current squad, not sure why Ross would be there since he isnt really part of the clubs plans for the future.

From Barkley's perspective I would imagine it frustrates him that his career hasn't progressed. He's not getting a sniff for England and Alli has surpassed him. He probably feels that he needs CL football on his CV to move back into international selection places and he is placing a bet on himself that he will be successful.

So, ride the coat tails of a club that achieved CL without him, with a player who is better than him, apparently, when he played for England at Everton?

Cant really see the logic of that. But then, I am not a cossetted football player.

Sad the way this has turned out - Whoever has advised Ross needs to be kicked up the hoop

It's a really crap game of poker where nobody will show their hand - Nobody knows what the contract is. Nobody knows why Ross isn't signing. Nobody knows if he's actually on the transfer list. Nobody knows if Spurs (or anybody) have shown firm interest in signing him.

Hoped he was going to be our Gerrard - turned out to be another Rodwell

And it's just our luck that it's Spurs who we in for him as they'll happily wait until the last minute of the last day of the window in order to get him at the price they are willing to pay.

I am just trying to put myself in his shoes and view it with his eyes.

Maybe he thinks he's better than Alli and wants to prove it? I mean Stones is like an automatic England selection now that he's at City. My gut feeling is that CL football is almost essential these days. They beat Jags and Baines to death with it.

I think Arsenals style of play would suit Barkley more than Spurs. Either way, I feel he'll be making a very big mistake leaving Everton at a time when optimism hasn't been so high for a long time (for most). He hasn't kicked on as much as we hoped but could still have a prominent role to play, even if not first choice every week. I suspect it may be off field issues which are affecting his mindset.
