Ross Barkley

Its the groans that cause this. Barkley wouldn't have scored either of the goals at City or Carlisle at Goodison. The lads a bag of nerves. That's why half the time he doesn't know what to do with it.

Mate behave - he's played 100 games and a load for England. The groans come about because of the useless output. All Everton fans (me included) want the lad to do well.

I disagree mate, Goodison is a hard place to play your football when things arnt going well. If Gareth Barry says he feels it I am sure a lad of 22, who you only have to look at to see is shy, feels it.

You must have been watching a different game mate! He went through the motions and pulled the strings but it was against a League 2 team on a decent pitch. His goal was deflected. Without the deflection it would have been nothing.
League two or not. A good shift I thought. Perhaps the best in a few weeks for the leg weary warrior. I do agree he still has a learning curve. But he can pull the strings when on his game.

He needs to improve his intelligence though - not his physical side.

Also saying that Barkley has really stepped up and ran games over the last 18 months (which is pretty much what most of his supporters here are saying) doesn't then sit well with the cold hard facts that we've been pretty rubbish over that period.

His intelligence is improving, obviously he's not the finished article but when he is he'll be awesome.

Agree with the last bit, although he's managed to maintain some consistency throughout 2016 despite bad results

It helped that they happen to possess a player so lacking in ego and vanity that he will give up as much of himself to a walkover match like this as to a League Cup semi-final. It was calypso football Ross Barkley gave us at times: a stellar contribution. Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli is the source of all the talk in the country but here is a player whose less discussed contribution is of greater significance when England and the summer are concerned.

The Carlisle applause which greeted Barkley’s departure 15 minutes before full-time reflected his contribution of tricks, touches, step-overs and razor-sharp delivery. “A quality, quality player,” Carlisle manager Keith Curle said of him at the end. “Some of [my players] were trying to get his shirt [when they were] getting off the pitch and [even then] they weren’t quick enough!”

4 years ago Barkley would have shone against a league 2 team. Just saying.

Yea, I remember him ripping it up for Leeds and Sheff Wed. Oh wait a minute, the guy has been one of the best players on the pitch in the last three games against city who else do you want him to prove himself against?

I think that's highly unlikely.
In that case, why all the hate for one of our shining stars.
It really annoys me that people like you are constantly sniping at our best players. Or do you just want to wind up people on this forum?
I'll say it again. Your attitude is negative and mean-spirited, not to mention sour - is your name ironic too?
