Ross Barkley

To think thousands of fans will just smile and clap politely when he balls something up and nod to the person next to them and say "ah shucks that didn't turn out right for the the boy Ross but let's appreciate his quality all the same" just isn't going to happen.

When at a game, whether Everton or Ireland or Barca, my initial reaction to a mistake or a move breaking down would always be frustration but whether its Ross or Messi or Hoolahan I would still follow that up with a shout of encouragement and clapping. I see plenty of fans doing the same.

I dont think it is that idealistic really. Supporters should support.

Boss is really growing into his role. His tracking back is getting better too!

Only thing I want him to do is score even more screamers! We know he can do it, but sometimes he over dribbles by a touch or two and has his shot blocked by the 3 opposition players they send swarming at him. If he can just get a decent shot away earlier we could see even more from him :)

With Ross on 11 goals and Rom on 20 goals so far this season, it would be brilliant if they can hit the 20 and 30 goal marks respectively.

I said early on in the season that this should be their targets and it's looking likely.

Barkley can be frustrating when he wastes chances and makes mistakes, but the fact that he's creating so many chances a game for himself and teammates proves that he's so close to becoming ridiculously good.

The difference between his performances this season to last is day and night, and he's learning to handle the fan pressure really well.

He should go back to shooting a bit more but cut out shooting when its clearly going to be blocked. Its like that annoying guy in 5 a side who gets closed off but instead of just passing back and starting again he whacks it full blast into the defender in front!

In fairness to Ross he gets the ball a lot around the area but is closed down by 2 or 3 very quickly. I can't really remember many times where I was shouting shoot because it looked on. Even that run across the box yesterday I think he was looking for that gap to fire home but he was well shepherded across until the angle was too difficult.

But look at how many of his goals have gone in after being deflected.

I know his blocked shots can be very frustrating, but he has clearly shown his ability to score in these positions and he just needs to learn when his attempts have a better chance of getting through. As far as I am concerned he just needs to keep shooting. Ross is very much a confidence player, and when he is at his best his confidence may lead him to attempt moves with a lower probability of coming off.

Pretty much what Martinez was asking of him a few weeks ago. Take more risks.

Misquote much? The full sentence was:"The obvious choices are Coleman, McCarthy and Mirallas."

I then went on with a couple more paragraphs explaining why those THREE were the only real candidates, and conceding that Mirallas had the least chance of the three. But you ignored all those long words apparently.

How long have you worked for the Sun?

I took the other 2 out as they're not bad shouts as captain but Miralles isnt. Not really that hard to work out

Rosses problem is he takes a little too long to let fly. If he thinks a little less and strikes when the shot opens up, he will be a little less predictable. I can almost always predict when he's going to shoot, and I assume the defense can too.
