Ross Barkley

Would love them both is that allowed? Really do like Alli and think comparisons very difficult.
I'd want Barkley think mainly because he's a blue but if Alli continues to develop England have got a hell of spine there.

Think they are different players as well though.

Alli for me reminds me of Lampard with his late runs into the area.

Barkley, as much as I hate to say it, is more Gerrard in his style of play.

Barkley the better of the two for me at the minute, though there is obviously a slight age gap.

Yeah was thinking of comparisons. I'd probably get stick for seeing something between Barkley and Gazza, but as someone who still wasn't sure about him a year or so again think I'm allowed to go over the top.
AllI definitely could be as good as Lampard but looks to me like he has even more to his game.
Ross confidence as well seems bit more fragile to me, so despite age gap it's still gonna depend a lot on how both are managed.
As I say though as far as who I'd prefer Ross loves the club and that counts double so Alli doesn't get a look in.

Alli is a great prospect. I think Ross controls the game more though, so beyond the stats he can control a football match which is a big thing. Also his stats this season are better than Alli's, more goals and more assists.

Finally and most importantly this is a breakthrough season for Alli. Next season he will be marked far more closely. It will be interesting to see how he adapts. In many ways Ross has come through his difficult 2nd season and even now when he is given specialist attention is thriving.

Hmm. Got to say mate Gerrard couldn't half hit a pass

A long pas yes, his short game was terrible. His shooting was superb, and attacking positioning.

His best period was with Alonso and Mascherano behind him, 2 players that did the tackling & passing & controlling the game.

His short games was shocking, and the reason Brendan Rodgers stopped playing the way he did at Swansea, because it didn't fit Gerrards way.

Agree mate. But do think it's a bit much to say Barkley's passing is twice as good. Definitely has the potential to be though.

Had this argument plenty of times with reds. Gerard had great technique for long range passing shooting & tackling but real technique is the ability to take the ball under pressure from an opponent which he simply couldn't do as most English players can't.

Ross can he has also improved massively taking the ball with his back to goal he can go either way & has also developed the ability to slow down with the ball in order to attract His opponent very few players can do this it also creates a problem forwhoever is marking him as he is strong as an ox but fast as they can't bully him off it & don't want to get involved in a race so allied with his fantastic first touch creates time & space.

Yeah, it's not twice as good as Slippy's yet. But he is a better player than he was at the same age and relies much, much less on good players around him than Monster Fod did.

Also, how many English midfielders can or have been able to go past players, like Ross !?!

So, very good short passing, good long and switch play passing, good shot, good final ball, can go past players, hold players off......

Boooooo.

Yes, I think Ross's short game is superb, and dictates the pace of a game, along with the likes of Scholes/Pirlo/Alonso/Xavi, not yet as good as those tho.

I see a Scholes/Gerrard mis Ross's game.

Fully agree the Stoke home game was what opened my eyes to the scholes comparison he had 97% pass completion I watched game twice & didn't see him give it away so not sure why not 100%.

Whenever closed down he simply turned away & moved the ball without ever looking in danger of giving it away.

Personally think he has more of a reemebelnce to yaya toure than Gerard
