I think he's there solely as a last resort.

Hopefully this experience will end up being a motivator for him, and he'll do everything he can to avoid being in the same position come the World Cup.

I think you are right - Roy obviously doesn't rate him. I don't know if it has already been picked up on, but Hodgson's quote about having 16 or 17 good players after the Portugal friendly was very revealing about his mindset. Ross is obviously one of the 6 in the squad he doesn't consider to be good players.

He's one of three maybe four English players missing out this summer because of Martinez.

It is partly Martinez fault but Hodgson is as much to blame as he's a coward. England best performance of the last 5-6 years was in the friendly against France. Ross played in central midfield with Dier and Alli. That midfield was young, very well balanced and each player had a role that suited them.

All doesn't look right in the 10 and needs to be deeper. Rooney played from a wide position that night and played very well. Hodgson couldn't keep him there though as he has to accommodate Sterling and to a lesser degree Lallana (neither of them played that night).

I don't mind a manager having loyalty but Hodgson is inconsistent in how he applies it and often chooses the wrong games/players to be loyal too. Rather than looking at the France game, he will use a last minute win against Wales and a draw against Russia as evidence of a winning side.

I feel sorry for Ross. Redknapp was right when he said he'd build his team around him. I am not slating Rooney who's played well this tournament (and I'd have picked him) because had Rooney not played Hodgson would have shoe horned Wiltshire or Milner in there.

He is a truly awful manager and it's got to the point with the way he treats Everton players I hope England lose every game.

Not really arsed if neither he nor Stones play a minute all tournament. Be bothered with either one of them being made a scapegoat by the national press whilst overrated bags of crap like Dele Ali, Sterling and Smalling get off scot-free when they're absolutely woeful every game.
This really.
Depending on how they play, the media will either want to blame them or send them along the M56.

agree with a lot of that mate but I'm happy for Ross to not be getting picked tbh
.
His form was awful for about 3 months and he looked unfit so it's a case of him not warranting a start imo.

If he does get a chance though as a sub I hope he slaps one in from 40 yards, sparks Hodgson clean out and goes and sits on the bench in protest.
