Why not sign a contract with a realistic release clause. He gets his desired move if it's met and Everton return an acceptable profit from his sale.
Would this not remove a lot of rancour?
Probably because he feels Everton would put the release clause higher than what any club would be willing to pay I guess?

I mean Everton were asking £50m with 1 year left on his contract.

It's all guesswork anyway. In the unlikely event he's still here after the window shuts then Ross would almost certainly sign a new deal.

Hopefully this happens.. he signs... we have the chance to see if playing with better players does actually make him better.... he gets a pay rise... and if we sell next year... we get a bigger fee...

Would you not say he would be values on a par with Kyle Walker even with a year left on the deal?

Oxlade chamberlain linked with a 35 million move away in his last year and Ross is significantly better than him.
