Then he really shouldn't play for us again mate. It's just my opinion and I dare say others will disagree but I think that sets a terrible example to our other players. If someone can run down their contract down and leave the club with nothing and have zero repercussions. No we need to show that nobody is bigger then the club and players can't run down their contracts effectively doing the club over and not face consequences.
I agree with you but what is Barkley and his agent thinking,I also think with the signings we have made it pushes him further away from an automatic pick.

His people probably know it's a bad move for him mate. I think it's Ross pushing for this move despite it being obvious to everyone how bad it will be for him. I don't buy into all the gangster nonsense, I think it far more likely that he just wants a quick route into playing in the Champions League and mistakenly thought clubs would be queing up for him. He's backed himself into a corner and I think he'll sign a new deal purely for self preservation.

Could be mate, and I would be happy if he did but it's left a little bit of a bad taste for me,and I like the lad.

Yes, I totally agree. I feel after a few games beyond deadline day we will hear of a new contract signed.

Haha, I can think of plenty !

Ross hasn't played that role for us, well, hardly ever, and it'd be a risk for Spurs to buy him purely with that in mind, but I can see that Pochettino might be thinking in trying Barkley in a similar role to Dembele, it wouldn't be a 100% lfl replacement, nothing ever is.

After all, if they paid 25 to 30 million for him ,stuck him on a four year contract and, after a couple of years they decided he couldn't be trained into that kind of role then they'd likely just sell him on for a profit with no real harm done to their club.

Maybe so mate. But will stick my neck out here, if he goes spurs it will go absolutely terrible.

Utter bollox. Loads of clubs have had that and still played the player, the rs with mcmanaman, psg with ibra etc etc

It's not bollox lad. It's an opinion, the club may agree with you or they might not. I'm of the opinion that he's soured his relationship with the fans and the club to the point that we shouldn't play him in those circumstances.

Or could say the club was on its arse with zero signs of that changing, was about to go bankrupt. He was fresh off being the best player in an international tournament. Was the hottest prospect in world football. Was joining the perennial title winners and most dominant side the countries ever seen with the best manager in the history of the sport.

Ross goes errr but I can join spurs who ain't won the league in 60 years and a manager whose never won anything

Well then either way I can't see how Rooney could weigh in with anything substantial. Unless saying 'when I went turbo Judas, the club I went for were miles better than yours' would change Ross' mind.

Or he could say how it actually was mate. We wanted and needed to sell the lad. That's beyond dispute.

Its all about opinion mate, if and a big if he stays, he signs a new contract, he forces his way into the team and then performs then honestly no one will give a flying f about this all.

He could point out that he was a thousand times better then Ross will ever be and that he was a kid with the future of our club on his shoulders while Ross wants leave a club on biggest upturn since the 80's. He could also mention that the club was in massive trouble at the time he wanted to leave and the cash we made on him effectively saved us. Then he could point out that he left us to win trophys and he won every single one he could at English club level while Ross would be leaving to be sitting on the bench Somewere. It's obvious that Ross is as sharp as a bowling ball but even he should be able to see the difference in the circumstances between Rooney and himself.

Think it is best for all parties if he signs a 2 year deal at the deadline. His injury / lukewarm interest has greatly diminished his prospects. A new deal gives him some security , an opportunity to fight for a place while putting the club in a better position to move him on next summer if the situation remains the same.

Totally agree mate. It's all about if he has the sense to sign a new contract though. If he signs a new deal and gets his head down then this whole thing will be forgotten in time. If he doesn't sign it however and plays a couple of bad games I can see him taking some real stick from Goodison.
