2017/18 Ross Barkley

I think Barkley could effectively play that secondary striker role, like Dele does for Spurs. Just needs to be given license to try things without worrying about losing the ball.

Looking at our squad now we lack a bit of pace and power going forwards. Barkley gives us that, it'd be great if he came back on board.

I don't think he has Dele's movement to play that role, Dele is constantly on the move making angles and getting in the box if anything Dembele is the nearest 'type of' player to Barkley they both are better on the ball than off it.

I can understand his thoughts process.

He missed the Euros and he hasn't been called up since so maybe he thinks he needs a new challenge.

Koeman had to answer so many questions about him last season it became a witch hunt and Koeman was blowing smoke up his a-hole like Martinez.

Koeman is the first manager who challenged him and he responds with spitting his dummy out and walking away.

At his age, he should be 1st choice and in the England squad. Sadly I think he won't get that at Everton, Spurs, Arsenal or Chelsea.

Potential is all well and good but Rodwell, Gosling, Jeffers are prime examples that potential isn't enough, you need that drive so I hope finds it elsewhere but once he leaves us, F HIM!
He had near the same stats as the Sig , and we just paid 45 million for him?

He will end up less goal scoring and less assist than Osman who I think not as good as him. But Osman scored more stunning goals and more headers than him. lol (I mean in the royal blue shirt)

IMO Ross would be best placed on the right, as Beckham played for ManUtd in his best days, able to whip a ball in and come inside if needed. Ross hasn't 'shown' the speed of thought of others who play in the centre and would be a real threat wider.
That said im still convinced he will end up at City as per the rumours early in the summer, with his mate Stones.

I've come to the conclusion that he is just a luxury player that we can't accommodate. If you think back to the likes of Adel Taarabt who could look amazing one week, or Kevin Prince Boateng or even Matt Le Tissier, who lets be honest won nothing int he game and did nothing for England

This. Dele is also brilliant at moving the ball on quickly which you have to do in the final third. I think we all know that isn't one of Ross's strong points.

Getting embarrassing now, still have to admire him staying with what must be the most useless agent in the Prem (or does he represent himself?)

He must have one serious clown imposter posing as an agent if that's the case. There's not been a single bid for the lad yet and in this scenario the agent usually can't get the player to sign a contract extension quickly enough but still they persist, hoping some massive club is going to come along and rescue Ross from the 'evil' of Koeman's wrath...

Beggars belief, it really does.
Which inplies he's either after some substantial wage or signing on fee when fit. Koeman and the board will only pay him what they think he's worth. Maybe the bigger clubs see it as a gamble as he's blowed hot and cold for the last two seasons to be honest. As much as I'd like him to stay the heart is no longer here clearly...

Mate ... Matt Le tissier was 10 times the player ross could ever dream to be... he done it at a crap saints team for season after season.... literally single handily kept them in the prem.. I remember on sky on a Saturday when Rinaldo scored his 30th league goal of the season... Jeff stelling saying he was the first ever midfielder to do it.. they went to a break and Jeff said apparently during the break that le tissier mentioned that he done it at saints and sky's response was "no... you were a striker" le tissier just said "oh ... was I?" He was imense and his top 20 goals collection is better than anyone's IMO.. he scored worldies nearly every other week ...

He didn't get a chance to do anything for England.

He doesn't at all, but because someone flashed some misleading graphic on the board apparently he does. He's not close to the same level as Ross. And Ross, just because he's English, and has talent, would probably go for close to that if he wasn't less than a year away from his contract expiring.

I couldn't disagree more mate, undoubted ability, one of the most naturally talented players of his day, that I dont deny. But you mention his top 20 goals collection, that is the only thing he has to his name. 12 years of premier league football, playing in a team set up around him. amounts to a great you tube collection.
