2017/18 Ross Barkley

I'm not saying that. It's a possibility, but no more so than the possibility that he just wants an open market war for a high signing on fee. I don't think he's been tapped up by any specific club - if anything, I think he and his agent have decided the big payday is there, but Chelsea came knocking this summer and they feared that they had played their hand too early and considered getting out now. Then got cold feet and went back to Plan A.

Either is possible.
If he does want to go then he's most probably wasted a great opportunity to develop his career for the sake of making even more money. Doesn't seem to be a smart thing to do.

If he'd changed his mind about signing a contract then Moshiri would have been giving it loads about he's one of the family etc. It absolutely isn't happening.
He'd have not spoken to the player at that point merely his agent. We'll find out the reality of what this means in the coming weeks.

Ross Barkley...
Boo!
You've just cost us (and 'apparently' your club) £30m. Thank you.

You are, of course, entitled to reject to such an offer.

But if you don't re-sign with EFC, then I applaud you for demonstrating how to burn your bridges. I certainly won't respect you.

We have been played here, Spurs know he wants to go there, so do Everton. bet they have put a low bid in knowing that Barkley was set on joining them.
He cant play and will be fit only in time for the next transfer window, so only has to sit tight.
Spurs can get him for a knockdown price, he gets to go to the club he wants , gets a bigger signing on fee and we pick his wages up and costs to get him fit enough to play for them.
Made to look like armatures here by spurs and Barkley's agent. expect to here rumours of a new contract to keep the heat off him.

I wouldn't take any heat away from him. Let him stew, get fat, unfit, then go......

The club wanted to play it their way and it was all going nicely. Decent fee and not to Spurs. However Ross didn't want to be pushed into that and realised he can have the last laugh by saying no.

Not as dumb as we think he is.

If the lad wanted to go to Spurs why not just swallow our pride and negotiate with them if they matched the £35m fee. I think us being spiteful and not giving him the move he wanted has cost us his fee and unsettles the dressing room for the next 6-12 months.

If he signs for Chelsea he's a cup starter and a league benchwarmer. That's no good if he's trying to push for an England spot and regular football. At Spurs, he won't be as well paid but is likely to get more football and have a more realistic chance of competing for a first team spot.

If the report is true that the club have snubbed Levy, it looks like he's going to wait out his injury and force Mosh's hand to redeem some sort of value in January, and consider talking to Spurs. Neither Spurs nor Chelsea have much depth to their teams and may yet welcome Ross to ease the pressure in Jan.

Clearly, unless he signs a new contract with us, he's shown that he doesn't give a crap about the last 12 years here and is quite happy to shaft the club.
I don't actually think that's true, Chelsea are a bit light in central midfield.

If Ross had decided to stay at Everton then that would be the message to Moshiri. Not 'we'll consider our options in January'

Moshiri will only ever deal with Ross' agent anyway, that message isn't going to change.

I can't see how not selling the tit will unsettle the dressing room. Once he's back up and running and training with our under 7's side I'd say if anything it might show the players to think twice before taking the absolute piss

Except he agreed terms with Chelsea, had literally signed a contract and was in the process of having a medical.

So unless you're suggesting he had spite levels so high that he was prepared to go to that extreme to have the last laugh, when simply refusing to enter discussions with Chelsea would have had the exact same effect and outcome, then what you're saying does not make sense.

think we do or get nothing a few months later, and have a player sulking around the place picking up wages till he goes out the door, he is holding all the cards not the club.
If our bargaining position was that weak then Chelsea wouldn't have offered over £30m for him though.
