lol. Sorry mate I'm just not going to start taking pity on a bloke who gets paid more in a week than most earn in a year to do something normal people do for fun and for a club he professes to love.

True role models. I admire their strength of character in what must be a very difficult time for young Ross what with all the kicking footballs around, lads holidays and smashing birds in. He can sign a precontract in January and move for free next summer yeah?

If he signs a precontract in January and moves abroad that shows more bravery. How many English players ply there trade abroad, if more did this the national team would be better for it.

Ross should now do the decent thing and put a transfer request in, at least then he would lose his ahem, " loyalty bonus" off his transfer fee. But I doubt the snake would even do that.

A certain Everton player had his locker taken off him for basically wanting to play for Everton, but not being good enough. I sincerely hope Koeman has the balls to do that with Barkley. He has cost us with his antics last night around £15m, he has embarrassed his club, his supporters and himself in front of the watching public.

We should now let him rot on our bench until his contract runs out, yes I know we will lose another £15m but feel it would be worth it, we wouldn't be getting him match fit for Spurs, who haven't exactly enamoured themselves to us have they and it would put the final nail in his world cup hopes.

Bitter, probably yes but lest not forget we brought Barkley through the ranks, supported him through a horrendous injury when he was very young and through persistence, patience and support helped make him good enough to play for his country. And this is how he repays it. Yes everyone has freedom of contract, they can play for who they want, but there are ways and means of forcing a move and a little bit of honesty to us as fans would have been a start. Never want him to pull on an Everton jersey ever again, he doesn't deserve to.

So do you also admire him for turning his back on his home grown club ?

He is just like us fans who turn on the players. Just go into the Baines thread and see a player who turned down the likes of United and see how he gets treated by some of the posters on here saying he is finished.

No loyatly in football, and i include the fans in that statement.

Ross is the victim here lad, been hung out to dry by Moshiri and Koeman. Not the only player either, poor Oumar out in the cold as well.
Because he needs to reflect the anger of the fans from failing to buy a striker and a centre half and Ross is the perfect scapegoat for that.
I agree that a lot of fans are over reacting and showing a lot of hate before we know the full picture. But you're doing the exact opposite mate, defending Barkley 100% without knowing the full picture.

I've noted your other posts around players contract etc. You are quite correct that the player is entitled to see out his contract should he so wish. But equally fans have the right to voice their disapproval should he do so, especially somebody who, by his own words, loves the club as a fan, and has been with us since he was a toddler.

Had the club been trying to offload Barkley to a team like West Ham or Newcastle, to cash in on the player before his contract expired, I could understand him turning down the move. But we're talking Chelsea here, the reigning champions and one of the very few clubs able to offer regular champions league football which is apparently so important to him.

There can only be 3 possible reasons for Barkley turning down the move.

1) As the prospect of leaving his boyhood club came closer he realised that he didn't want to leave, that his future lay at Everton. The penny finally dropped so to speak. Quite possible and the scenario I'm clinging onto.

2) His medical wasn't going according to plan due to the hamstring injury, with Chelsea realising he wouldn't be available, fully match fit, until December. So they suggest delaying the transfer until January when they could get him cheaper and build the difference into his package. Again quite possible, but why let the lad take all the flack for this. All Chelsea had to say was that he failed the medical because the hamstring injury was worse than expected. Nobody would have been surprised at this and we wouldn't all be calling for Barkley's head.

3) The player would rather join another club (Spurs). They have told him/his agent to hold out until January when he is fit and would also, in theory, cost a lot less with only 6 months left on his contract. This is probably the most obvious reason of the 3 which is why most fans have got themselves worked up.

The club need to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible, and then make a statement to the fans. The easiest way to do this is to put the contract back in front of Ross now and give him a short deadline to sign it or not. If he really has changed his mind about leaving, then he shouldn't need much prompting, in fact he should be asking us to sign.

As I say, I really hope he signs, and I'm pretty sure the vast majority on here want him to sign too and would welcome him back if he does. Apart from the usual suspects of course.

If he doesn't sign then he deserves all the backlash that comes his way, from both the club and the fans. This is because he has basically screwed the club over good style, whether his actions are within his rights or not. If you can't see that then I suggest you have a very blinkered view.

For the moment, I don't think the club has hung him out to dry. Moshiri simply explained the situation as he understood it when asked the question. I'm prepared to give Barkley the benefit of the doubt until we find out the reasons behind last nights decision. But the club have to release the facts once they are available because not knowing is just creating a very toxic atmosphere around the club and player.

Did he stop half way through the medical ?
if so what the hell was he doing there ?
a move to the champions , and thats not good enough for him ?
Totally baffled?

He's injured...Chelsea (and probably Spurs) have clearly told him to go back to Everton, have us pay his wages while he recuperates, then sign in January when he'll be cheaper and can get a bigger wage as a result.

Ross Barkley is not a millionaire, he's a vulnerable young pup in need of guidance and support.
If nothing else, this episode has confirmed for me why the only manager he's ever had, club or international, that could be even remotely arsed with him was a deranged fantasist.

Who wants to keep him after yesterday? He has no love for the club and will be sold on the cheap in January but we should have no regrets. Let us move on with the squad that wants to play for Everton and build on it come in January if we need to. After all he is no star

The board must learn from this. Or never...

We should have sold him last summer with 2 years in his contract. From now on if anyone who is worth a good sum, the club must sell him with less than 2 years in his contract if he is not signing an extention. Now that our budget for next summer is gone...

So I don't agree with people saying we should have kept Lukaku. He can do the same.

Wayne got decency when he let the club had the opportunity to bank a big fee, look at Barkley...he is doing a Sol here.

There is no loyalty in football anymore, everyone knows that. But it makes it even more galling when it is 'one of your own' that has let you down so spectacularly. You can go on that he has been badly advised blah blah blah. But at the end of the day, it was Ross' decision to turn down a contract with us and his decision to walk away from an agreement with Chelsea that is going to cost his boyhood club millions.

It's simple. You offer a contract with a deadline to sign. If he's not interested it's clear he's negotiating an exit in January or July. If so, he doesn't play for us again. No World Cup for Ross.

TBH I agree to a point, but these players are paid a kings ransom for what is a short career, Baines when he eventually retires will be remembered as a great player here and will always receive a warm welcome. Will Barkley ? Not getting into any arguments over this because everyone has their point of view and right now I'm bitterly disappointed with Barkley. Your right about one thing though, loyalty is definitely a thing of the past.

Agree entirely well stated.
