2017/18 Ross Barkley

...yep, if Everton or Barkley want to see out the contract there’s little the other can do. I think much depends on Everton’s situation and who Allardyce wants to sign in the window. I recall Allardyce not being complimentary about Barkley in the past and I don’t think he selected him for that one England team he managed.

He'll want him to stay.

He had a pop at him in the press solely on the basis that he thinks he's going for money and putting his career at risk. That tells me he wants him here.

But as @davek says, he's long gone and made his decision after the last 12+months under the horror that was Ronald Koeman

@ToffeeTim

Why are you liking posts of people saying he’s leaving because of personal issues when you constantly call him a snake moving for the money ?

Surely if he’s leaving for reasons related to his private life you would understand and not give him grief ?

I think. sadly, he's been forced to the door and there's no will to persuade him back from going through it.
While I do have the sense that the club (for whatever reason) hasn't helped the situation, I do believe Ross has to shoulder some responsibility.

The proverbial 'head turned' and 'dreams of grandeur' spring to mind, yet the hierarchies taciturn and/or robust approach I presume hasn't helped.

I do hold onto the snippets of hope that Ross may still sign, although I've never been a member of the Ross-love-in, but I sincerely doubt it.

Allardyce's appointment, combined with the farcical performances we've suffered due to an ad-hoc and shambolic squad isn't an attractive option.

I expect his fee is factored into the new manager's kitty for January.

What a shambles. I dont know of any other club like this that loses its very best so regularly, either by pushing them away or being cherry picked.

Off that press conference today I'd say he's not going to be offered much encouragement to stay.

That's down to Koeman though not Allardyce.

He's an exciting player and it's a massive shame we cant keep hold of players like him and Deulofeu and Lukaku. We've deteriorated from a few seasons back, no question. We had a flash of arrogance and style back then with them in their pomp, now we look like dullards....goodness knows how bad we'll be after SA.

He has been by Koeman; then the errand boy stuck his oar in and there's no turning back.

Find it bizarre people can think otherwise. Koeman was, to be blunt, a complete bell and publicly treated Barkley like dirt. Can only imagine what he was like privately.

Barkley hasn't been mentally weak either; it's like if you were in any job and had a complete tosser as a boss. Barkley simply has the option to easily go and work for another boss on the same or more money.

Being a fan of the club only means so much. I'm a fan of Greggs, but I wouldn't work there purely out of devotion to sausage rolls (insert Goat joke here), especially if my boss was a complete bar steward.

Got some flak off Koeman but forced out by all the management doesn't make financial sense or any sense.Dave,Ross and his agent are playing a blinder here to the detriment of the club and supporters.

You only have to read Niasse's story about being marched out of the first team canteen by Koeman to know what an absolute bellend he was. I'd imagine Barkley was similarly treated.

That's cost us a very good player....on top of the £200M he threw in the bin while he was here on fees and goodness knows how much on wages for players and himself and his pay off.

He must have put about a £300M hole into this club's finances. Only the tv cash and sale of players prevented us from being sent to the wall by him.

Why didn't he sign for Chelsea? His wages would have been higher there than at Spurs I'd guess.
