2017/18 Ross Barkley

Gone.

I'll take a guess he won't even play another game in a blue shirt after "slightly re-injuring the hamstring in a small setback...to return in January" conveniently.

Why didn't he sign for Chelsea? His wages would have been higher there than at Spurs I'd guess.
Spurs had tapped him up.
He wanted to go to Spurs.
The Club ignored his agent and tried to do the deal with Chelsea (or anyone else other than Spurs) but when push came to shove, Ross and his Agent stood by their guns and still demanded the move to Spurs.

Ross probably thinks the Mercenary cutthroat atmosphere at Chelsea would be too competitive and he'd be out after a few bad performances like the rest of them (or he had a word with ROM). He'll have had warm friendly cuddles from Poch telling him it wasn't like that at Spurs, and that they too were a family club who would look after him.

Find it bizarre people can think otherwise. Koeman was, to be blunt, a complete bell and publicly treated Barkley like dirt. Can only imagine what he was like privately.
While I don't doubt that how Barkley's relationship Koeman created division, I can reliably say that it wasn't Ron who was the major agitator.

Instead, it was another member of the 'staff', close to the manager, who alienated many of the players and caused relations to sour drastically.

Yet if we're looking for fairness, Ross isn't well known for being the nicest or most sensible of individuals either professional and personally.

So I'm not surprised that the relationship between the manager, the club and Ross quickly dwindled to the point where we are.

Lot of supposition there.

Part of the role of a manager is to build belonging and desire, a measure of SA success will be doing what's right with the squad for the future of the club. Getting Ross to stay and sign a new contract would be a massive boost, let's see...

I think he's gone, but until he actually kicks a ball, nobody knows if he will ever be any good again.
