Reckon theres anything we could do to convince him to stay? I know absence makes the hard grow fonder but given the number of second-rate number 10s we've signed lately losing Ross suddenly looks like a big mistake.

No, there is nothing that can make him stay or he would have signed.

He could have signed a 1 year extension this time last year when the talks began but he didn't. And it's too late for him to do that now as it'll come at a cost to his new club.

Perhaps he thinks Spurs/Chelsea won't pay the extra dollar for him...

It's very quiet on this front, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's still here on 1st Feb but this certainly doesn't mean he's staying with us beyond summer.

The under 23s?

If he is determined to leave then he should not be in the team. If a move doesn't happen , then he isn't going to the World Cup and that is his problem.
I couldnt care less at this stage. Anything that makes us more appealing to watch and a threat going forward should be done. Its grim

I fully expect him gone now. Ideally this window to get the lad off the books and out of the door, with someone else paying his wages. Any fee generated is a bonus.

He has played the part of professional footballer to a tee. He will get a huge signing on fee if he leaves in Summer and decent wages wherever he goes, and will no doubt profit in the long run. That's what he's meant to do as a professional contractor. Just doesn't help Everton much does it?

One thing I don't get about this is all the Spurs links... unless they break their wage structure I don't see how they CAN sign Ross.
Harry Kane just signed a new contract last month that makes him their highest paid player ever... on less money than Davy Klaassen.

Sure Oumar earns more than Deli Alli...

we should hold him until the summer. withdraw the contract offer, and play the crap out of him in the reserves in hope he breaks down again. Then see who wants him as an injured out of contract player.
Hope his career follows Rodwell, Jeffers and Gosling.

Tottenham work on huge bonuses though to be fair.

they will probably structure it as a massive signing on bonus and keep the weekly wages down. But it's true, moving for the money would make spurs an odd choice. plus, I can't see him getting ahead of Alli or Eriksen.

Chelski it will be. They already moved for him, and have just delayed it so they can get a cheaper price. And they will pay him silly wages to sit on a bench.

They do have good incentives... but nothing in comparison to the goals and assists bonuses that are offered across the park for example. I know what you mean though, I just look at how 'integral' Ross would be to their team and struggle to see them wanting to offer him more than the 50k that Alli is on.

I agree, if he goes - it'll be Chelsea and he'll sit on the bench.
Can't see him being offered more than Alli at Spurs and regardless of incentives I don't see why he'd move from Everton for a salary of ~50k a week.
