Why are people still making excuses for Barkley?

He wants to leave and leave us without even getting much of a fee for him. He makes Nick Barmby seem like an old faithful, what is the point in even trying to defend him?

The point about champions league clubs wanting him will only be worth gloating over for you Ross lovers if he is actually a success at wherever he goes. Man City signed Scott Sinclair FFS it doesn't mean jack unless they actually perform and become regulars in those sides.

I'd suggest that somewhere between Koeman issuing his ultimatum in May and Allardyce coming here in November would be the period he is talking about.

That should have been the period the club moved top rebuild bridges with Barkley. If Unsworth had been made manager I feel sure he'd have fought hard to keep him.

Cringing here. Some of you acting like a jilted lover, scrambing around for any justification you can to support his decision to leave the club.

First it was Koeman bullying him, and a few managers on, it's Moshiri for a comment he made after Barkley jilted the club by not moving in January.

He's a judas rat. That's that, we should be used to it now - boo him when he's back, cheer when he struggles - be the bitterest blue you can and move on.

Wrong and double wrong Dave and you know it, Lukaku wanted out long before Moshiri was even talked about, a couple months after he'd signed permanently and got that smile toad of an agent, who, let's not forget, told the world that he would have advised Lukaku NOT to sign for the club at all had he been hired that summer

...I doubt you’ll change @davek view on this one Jake but I agree with you. These fella’s have the ego that wants to play for the very top clubs. No amount of investment would’ve changed Lukaku’s mind. Of course we want our best players to stay but that will only happen when we are successful.

No issue with him wanting to leave. Good players come and go, and none of those that finished bottom half in consecutive seasons, while getting absolutely walloped in every high-pressure game they played, are worth fretting over.

I don't think he has the mental strength to succeed under the intense media scrutiny or level of competition that come with playing for a serious club, but then he'll never know unless he tries.
