Running

Yep…. It’s starting right from the beginning all over again and monitoring how it goes. There’s a strong possibility I will need to stop altogether if nothing improves and I’ll have to concentrate on walking and biking instead 😂😂. I actually took my kayak out on llanberis lake last week and that was a great workout with no after pain

There`s nothing wrong with walking or biking mate or kayaking either, they`re all good ways off staying fit.

Considering where you live, you`ve got it all on your doorstep.

Going slightly off topic, Chris Kirkland, the ex RS and England goalie, regularly speed walks some of the half marathons that I do in the Lakes, as he can`t run anymore due to injuries.

He posts some amazing times for someone who walks the whole thing.

Yeah I do appreciate how lucky I am to have all this literally on my doorstep … I’m on leave for a few days after today so have a few coastal path walks planned too.

Turned my
Been back running (of sorts) over the last 2 weeks. I’m recovering from a bad back and sciatica anyway and haven’t run for a long time. My first mistake was going straight for a 5 mile run, I suffered with awful back pain for 4 or 5 days afterward, after chatting with my physio I have taken on board his advice and currently am limiting my runs to 1-1.5 miles at a time at slow pace, I have a weakness on my left hand side so am currently trying to strengthen the muscle that side and by running any further it’s damaging the muscle ….. it’s very boring only doing a mile or so at at a time but it will be worth it in the end once the time for progression kicks in.

Blend in walking as well. Keeps the time on feet up and strengthens your skeletomuscular even when it feels like you’re doing nothing.

Turned my ankle something bad Friday. Stepped on the edge of the pavement where the grass was tall and I was fooled into thinking it was an even surface. After I picked myself off the ground and was sure I hadn’t broken my ankle and tested for pain I kept running but probably shouldn’t have. Then rode the bike for 2+ hours Saturday. Stiff and swollen today but probably nothing broken. Not the first time I’ve turned an ankle but the most severe and first time I hit the ground. No severe injuries it appears so I guess I still have things to learn.

Race number 5 of the year - Trail Pursuit Snowdonia Half Marathon.

A new part of Snowdonia to me, the Colwyn Valley side, very un touristy compared to what you normally get on Snowdon.

A really tricky course rather than tough, as the moorland sections involved slogging it through swathes of gorse, bracken and peat bog. Which slowed everyone down, even the elite.

It was stunning up there though and apart from an outward bound group, didn’t see a single other walker.

@Kurt.

How was the temperature? Deceptively hotter than expected today, just finished an 8.1 "trail" in Bedfordshire. Pretty much running around farm fields of cut grass 🙄
Managed to pick a vet category

It was almost gloves weather at 9am when it started, as the cloud had dropped, it was drizzly and there was a light wind.

It warmed up after about an hour though and stayed like that until the race finished.

There was a full kit check on everyone, as the weather can change in minutes once you get higher up, even in the Summer.

Did my first ever half marathon 21st june..

Never ran passed 8 miles. Did 10 miles quite easy but really struggled with last 3 miles (10min miles). Total. Time 2 hours 2 min.

Its been 9 days now and i still cant run. Something feels like its gonna snap down the middle of my knee when i run. Hammerd the anti inflammatorys. And seeing physio tuesday. Ive carried on walking.

Is it just a case of resting it? I miss running and want to get back to it
